Hi I'm wondering if anyone has gone from Bass River to Nantucket and a 22-ft boat I have a 22 ft weekender wondering if it's possible and if you guys would do that on a calm day
On a day with a great forecast I would do it. However days like that are 1 or 2 per summer. Nantucket Sound gets pretty lumpy in even mild winds. Depends on you tolerance for getting bounced around and getting wet.
Thanks I boat in the sound all summer . Just came to bass river from Lewis bay and it was 3-4 around the point
It is definitely doable. Like Scott said, you need a good weather window. If it gets rough you will get there ok but it will be a rough ride.
As others have said... It is 100% do-able but you need to consider the return trip and be ready to extend your stay until you have safe water, Nantucket Sound can get very bad with seemingly nice weather.
