For those of you on this board that have been to Nantucket, how do you handle your gray water? It appears to be illegal to dump gray water over board and so do you have a valve/hose that goes from the sump to the black water tank that can be switched?

"Nantucket's Marine & Coastal Resources Department prides itself on the establishment of a threemile federal no-discharge zone radiating outward from the island's shores.

Within this zone, boats are prohibited from emptying their sewage and grey water holding tanks in Nantucket Sound and must have their tanks pumped out when in Nantucket Harbor. "

I saw that... that's why I asked the question. What do you do? and don't say "they pump out my sump box"....

You ignore it?

This must be new. I have not been there this year, but as of last year they were regulating the type of garbage bags we used and asked us to use only biodegradable soap.

OK, I just looked at Nantucket's official web site and the regulation seems to be dated 1985. I have been to Nantucket many times since 1985 and never heard anything about this. At the boat basin they certainly encourage you to use on-shore showers, but I doubt anyone will fine you for washing dishes on your boat.
