My Weekend Mistake

I know right where that sand bar is and I feel for you!!! Was there any damage to the boat?

Hi Pauly... Nice to see another Candlewood boater on here. With 6000+ registered boats, you'd think there would be more!

No, no damage that I am aware of and she drives the same as far as I can tell. I will be checking vibration, RPM's and temp the next few times I am out, and like I said, I have to pull her in a couple of weeks, so that will be the true tell.

Do you slip your Sundeck? If so, are you at Brookfield Bay? Lots of nice Sea Ray's there. I was there Saturday changing a battery out.

In defense of your step-bro, water-logged tree trunks, telephone poles and dead bodies are real hard to see b/c they usually float at or just below the surface. I was raised to always watch for debris but find myself daydreaming sometimes.

No offense but you'd be chirping a much different tune if it were your boat.
He's spent a couple decades on the water himself... there's no excuse... he knows better than to not pay attention. We stood there looking at it after he hit it... and it was easily visible. I guess he was day-dreaming like you do... (or like we all do sometimes) but I for one don't day-dream at the helm of someone elses boat.
Dead bodies?

No offense

None taken, but, as I mentioned earlier, I don't leave my post. Ultimately, it's my boat and my responsibility. Captain Smith was not at the helm of the Titanic - he wasn't even on the bridge. But he was ultimately responsible and went down with the ship.

Glad you were on plane (in this instance) and not LAUNCHED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD!!! I will let others steer in open (uncongested) water - in shallows/congested areas it's the Admiral or myself. However, I will let fellow boaters (dockmates) take the helm (as I know their capability). - Jeff
