Mrs. Johnson, my son’s teacher, decided to allow some of the brighter kids to start their Easter break early.
To qualify the student needed to correctly answer a question she asked about identifying who said a famous quote.
The teacher asked who said this quote: “I have a dream.” My son’s hand when up but the teacher called on a girl named Suzie. Suzie replied “Martin Luther King” then Mrs. Johnson dismissed Suzie and told her to have a great spring break.
Next, Mrs. Johnson asked who said this quote: “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Again My son’s hand when up but the teacher called on a girl named Amanda. Amanda replied “Franklin D. Roosevelt” then Mrs. Johnson dismissed Amanda and told her to have a great spring break.
Next, the teacher asked who said this quote: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Again My son’s hand when up but the teacher called on another girl named Tracy. Tracy replied “Charles Dickens” then Mrs. Johnson dismissed Tracy and told her to have a great spring break.
Next, the teacher asked who said this quote: “That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.” Again My son’s hand when up but the teacher called on a yet another girl named Beth. Beth replied “Neil Armstrong” then Mrs. Johnson dismissed Beth and told her to have a great spring break.
In frustration, one of the boys in the class said “I wish these girls would keep their damn mouths shut!”
Hearing the comment Mrs. Johnson turned to the remaining kids and said in a loud angry voice “Who said that?!” The only one to raise their hand was my son. Mrs. Johnson motioned for him to reply then my son said “Why that was Tiger Woods. Have a great spring break Mrs. Johnson” and he walked out of the classroom.
