My Season is Over

I feel your pain. Blew a head gasket on my starboard side first run of the season. She’s back on land and the motor is being rebuilt this week. Hope you get back on the water soon!

Mike, that sucks. Sorry to hear your troubles. That is the worst to have major issues this time of year. I am sure you can get it up and running sooner rather than later. Like you said, once boats are splashed the yards can get work done pretty quickly.

MAN how are you eating motors under 500 hours? that's crazy.

GOod luck sir.

I'm a hot rodder from way back - I know my shit - I have built motors and cars for years......So its not like I neglect or don't maintain my stuff.....So it baffles me too - In all fairness, the Port side did not need to be replaced, the boat was 1500 miles away at the time and the mechanic I had look at it told me he did a leakdown test and it was leaking past the rings.......I was skeptical, but had a new GM motor installed and shipped the "bad" one home via Fastenal...It ended up being a blown head gasket.....so I'm freshening that motor now (already had the heads done) to install on the starboard side...

yea I mean my family has had gasses with 1400 hours 454 still running good.

My currnet boat is 840 hours, and I would flip if one crapped on me ha

ya - thread title might be a little dramatic - ive calmed down a bit, hopefully I'll be up and running sooner than later

That really sucks. Hopefully our can get it going in time to enjoy at least a partial season.

Decided I needed to get it done by 4th of July...the machine shop turned the rebuild around in a week - while it was out, i painted the bottom, zinc'd and painted the drives and buffed from the rubrail down - whew! can't wait to take a ride next weekend! thanks to all for the well wishes and encouragement

That’s great news. Nice work getting it done. Enjoy

Good to hear. Now get out there and have a great season!

Great News and a fantastic turn around time - plenty of boating time still ahead of us.
