There's still the matter of more pics......

When we arrived the mechanic was already contorted in the ER pulling all the plugs. This was my conversation with him...

The water out in the Peconic Bay was a beautiful blue/green,nothing like the iced tea we boat in...

I thought this was cool. Windows in the fastback with smileys and screens and panels that you can snap in to cover said windows. Canvas is in like-new condition.

Owner replaced the plastic panels last year. Crystal clear and pretty thick. He said it's not strataglass. There's a matching sunbrella dash cover and he replaced all the covers on the electronics. Ya gotta LOVE a SS windshield.

Electronics were upgraded at some point. 2001s were equipped with the R41xx black and white LCD stuff. This is the RL80c (I think - can't remember for sure the model #)

Autopilot. Don't know how to use that, but will have 10 plus hours to learn under the tuttelage of my chief engineer, electronics specialist and partner in crime (and greasy fingernails), Jon Levine.

Bottom has 2 year paint. Was told by the broker that in NYS you can't paint your own bottom (?). I'm winging it and if I need it I'll do a short haul back home and do it myself, like I've done for the past 15 years.

The clincher for choosing this boat (amongst a few other things) was this. Once you've had one it's real hard to go back to a "wet head."

168 hours on these things. Diamond plate steps, bilge you could eat off of. Kudos to the previous 3 owners of this boat for keeping her in near-new condition.

Fortunately, VERY LITTLE vitrecore delam. Couple of interior shots. Seen one, seen em all...

You know what makes the female of the species happy? A non-college-dorm fridge.

That's true at some marina's and if they do let you.....

You gotta put a tarp under the boat to catch any paint that might drip on the ground,

Ron would tell us that he doesn't know what we were doing, if the NY DEC guy showed up at the marina.

They wanted him to put in a $20k power washing and bottom painting catch-all pit.

PS, Nice pics !. :smt001

Thanks Wayne. Some marinas have gone totally NON-DIY. This may be one. Looks kinda like a "Gucci" marina. Whatever. We berth in brackish water and I typically get 3 seasons out of a gallon of Hydrocoat, with some minor touch-ups. Might do a short haul to wax anyway if I can't get to the sides from the dock.

Congratulations Ron. I have a suggestion for a name. "Pokey No More!" Looking forward to seeing you on the water.

NIce boat,my dock neighbor has a 2000 380,his wife was putting a coat of vc-17 on the bottom yesterday when i was at the storage marina.I dont think they use the boat for more than 10 hrs a season. He got a new yamaha 230 with the bigger engines for his b day last year and they use it every weekend, before that irt was a sugarsand tango 18 ft.He bought the 380 new and the plan is to sell it and get a land cabin on a lake someday.I have another friend that has diesels in his 380,1997 and has been from new york to chicago several times with it,he also made those trips with his 86 390 with gassers,he will never be without diesels again unless hes boatless.

I agree Ron...stainless windshields are great. I get a bit obsessed about wiping them clean as soon as there's one mark on it!

That's a nice looking boat. Congrats again!

Mark

Thanks guys I ran into a little more unexpected work to be done to the boat this weekend so that will now ne put on my to do list.

I was hoping that Ron would invite us down for a ride this summer... But he didn't. :smt089

Ron,

She looks great! Love the seperate head and "Family" sized fridge. I hope to have those on a boat of my own someday. Best of luck with her!

Todd

Congrats on your new boat and glad to see your sad story has a happy ending. I looked at trading in my 320 on a 380 with diesels but the numbers weren't right. It's a great boat with a lot of room and if you put a a whole new generator in, especially if it's a Kohler, get fuel injection.

Congrats Ron! Very happy for you. I have followed the tread for serveral months and glad it all worked out.

Congrats Ron! My favorite gas Sea Ray. I know a few people with 380's and they are a gat running boat. The high hull helps make it a nice running ocean boat and there is plenty of power although it's not the most economical running boat of all time. The interior is basically the same as my 410 less the mid-berth head. I do assume that we will be seeing this in AC?

Thanks Ken. God willing, yes we will be in AC with the boat!
And thanks to everyone for the well-wishes!

Congrats Ron, If you and your family need a ride to boat, or anyting else, please call me... As far as the genny, I will help you rebuild her :smt043. If i were you, and did not plan on anchoring out, I would not replace the genny, maybe just put an inverter in.. It will cost bout $10K for new genny, and the use that both you and I do, may not justify replacing it...
