My Northstar NS100 VHF is a POS!

Will the Simrad VHF integrate with my Raymarine C80 plotter easily like the Northstar did (when it worked)?

i have mine mounted verticle, the way u have that mounted its wobbleing like a sea-saw, its going to break time after time. thats my 2cents

My NS100 is starting to show it's age.

Busted mounting clip: Check
Broken mount on handset back: Check
Insulation on handset cable split and cracked: Check.

It still operates but is time to start looking at another black box radio solution for a clean install. There are not too many options in this category. So far it looks like the following:

Model SRP Street
Simrad RS90 $899 $701
Raymarine Ray260 $699 $615
Icom M400BB $499 $425
Garmin VHF 300 $699 $571

Then there are some with AIS-versions also - for a higher cost. Obviously the Icom is the lowest cost and had a good reputation.

But I'm intrigued by Garmin as the newst player. Does anyone have experience with the new Garmin radios? Installed one? Any hands on at a show / store? I have multiple Garmin products (car nav, GPS plotter, bike computer) so I generally like them, but am certainly open to other options.

Hi, My NS100 seems fine, but my handset has issues. Are there any out there to be had? I have not been able to find one. Has anyone successfully replaced the NS100 recently?
TIA,
Richard

I might be able to help you find a handset if you are interested, my local dealer had some left (used but in working condition) at their garage sale. If they do, I could grab one for you on Sat.

Scott,

I am VERY interested. Shoot me a PM Please and we will talk details
