My new Sport 190 ready for maiden voyage

Thanks yes we travel with Bimini down.
The dealer put a strap snap on that small cushion for me.
Thanks for the tips! We are still out having blast.

I remember talking about it but you will want to change out those yellow rollers on your trailer as they will start scuffing up your boat. I put a plate and rollers, but I think rollers would have been enough. I used Stoltz Ultimate Bow Stop Roller, it is a soft orange material. You have to order the 4 inch, but the inside roller diameter on the trailer is a little less than 4 inches so you have to trim the roller. If you have access to a band saw that would be the easiest, I used a hack saw and then a belt sander, worked but took allot of work. Overtons has the roller about as cheap as any place.

I do remember you talking about that, thanks for the reminder Jeff, I will certainly look into replacing those rollers.

Well the grand Maiden Voyage was a huge success. I could not be more pleased with my new boat.
She purred like a kitten, and my gosh it is so much more quiet and smoother handling than that old 1990 180 BR I had. Steering was much smoother, could even talk while the boat was running, handled so positively it was a real pleasure to drive.

Very pleased with that insulated cooler under the bench seat, it kept ice really well all day, and it is very roomy. Plenty of storage, those aft storage spaces are huge. My new Magma Grill stowed away nicely in the port storage compartment - and it was really easy to attach to the pole and cook our lunch today on the water - we actually ended up getting hot dogs instead of hamburgers, store was out of hamburger buns last night so we settled on the dogs - the Magma cooked them great though, was really good. And where I had it positioned worked our really well for me.

Needless to say the wife loved it as well, said it was much easier on her rear end running across the waves, those cushions in that old boat were shot. She also loved laying out on the sunpad as well.
Only thing we missed today, was water still too cold to swim, look forward to that water warming up and being able to swim. According to my depth guage, the water temp was about 66F.

And wow, I was a little nervous about loading the boat without the trailer guides - the old boat I had put the pvc trailer guides on, as it was a roller trailer. This trailer I did not put any on, but loading it on this bunk trailer was a breeze, first try and she was on. Spare tire did not cause any issue rubbing on the fiberglass.

Note to self:
Ok so after one has been anchored for about 2-3 hours, pulls the anchor up and gets ready to move somewhere lese, and the boat is drifting toward shore and shallow water and the engine keeps turning over and turning over and never firing - then try engaging the throttle only and giving it a little while still trying to start the engine, drifting closer to shore, about to run up front and put the anchor in again and call the dealer and tell him to get out here this new boat won't start - ok so next time, the first thing to check - that dang safety switch - it does need to be in the run position!~!!!
LOL, no I did not have the lanyard hooked up , and no idea why I must have put that switch in the off position, but I sure had forgotten all about it - then I looked down and was like - dang, what a dumb butt! Flipped it up to run, and she fired right up!! Oh well, that was the excitement for the day...

Glenn - the Hot Sauce for cleaning the exterior, and the Vinyl Sauce for the upholstery, worked great! The wife did the inside while I did the outside, she is sparking ! Thanks for the recommendation.
And the Sport Trac, never even broke a sweat, pulled her out of the water like it was nothing.

Thanks in large part to all the assistance I got on this forum, today was a huge success!
I will update the thread tomorrow with some new pics I took on the water , too tired , hot and sweaty now, going for a cool shower!

Glad you found out about the kill switch. That switch will also click off sometimes on a hitting a big wave. I had it happen to me and did not even think to look at it, ending up getting towed back. All bent out of shape as the boat had done this before due to a defective ignition component. Woke up the middle of night and it hit me that switch probably got knocked down, next morning sure enough it was down.
The only other thing I have found and this is probably true with most boats, if the trailer is not sitting pretty close to level in the water, the boat tends not to be center very well on the trailer.

Don!

So glad you had a good outing!

I agree, the storage beneath the sunpad is great on the 190, and I also got a lot of good use out of the built in cooler.

And yes, the Hot Sauce seems to do the trick...

Post those pictures!

Ok so here are a few pics I took from inside the boat when we were on the water with it , for the first time yesterday.

A couple of pics showing how the Garmin is mounted. Only downside, is when hitting rough waves it twists back on forth on the rod, as the support rod rotates freely in it's brackets. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying. Other than that , the positioning worked out great.

Enjoyed reading about your maiden Voyage. I plan to make mine in a few weeks. Dont have much for pictures yet of my 2013 190. Its been mostly in storage. Purchased in Feb. 2014. Never been used, so I'm also excited about seeing how it runs. The only thing is I'm a new boat owner, so i've never had the expierence of owning a boat. My dealer hasnt been as helpful as yours. I was hoping they would let me keep it at the dealership until better weather arrived, but I had to take it home in practicaly a blizzard in Feb. They said if I kept it there they would leave it outside. They gave me a free can cooler though. They are going to give me a Boat Captain Presentation in a few weeks so that will be very helpful. Plus I do have friends that are very expierenced boaters to help me out. I'll post more pictures when I can get it out of Storage and the weather is better. When the time comes I'm sure I'll have more questions to post.

Please do, I would love reading about your experience when the time comes - and welcome to the forums, don't be afraid to ask for assistance here there are a lot of very helpful folks here - I have learned a lot from them. You are going to love that boat!

sounds like you had a blast....we had a good WE on the water as well.....

i know this will sound a little 'over the top' but i am always on the lookout for potential safety hazards.....hopefully your grill is secured when stowed away in the locker....if it is not secured there is a potential (maybe very small) that if you hit a big wave while traveling in the water or a pothole in the road while trailering the grill 'could' bounce up on top of the exposed battery terminals....using 'murphy's law' that could be a potential fire hazad if the grill landed in just the right spot to make contact with one of the positive battery terminals and one of the negative battery terminals....if you can't secure the grill while stowed maybe you can just put a cover over the batteries such as an old towel.....

Many thanks for the tip Cliff, that did not occur to me - I will make sure it is secured/protected on the next outing!

Tell me about the Magma grill that is attached to the Bimini frame...........

Did it work out OK?

I was thinking of doing it on our 210 SLX, but was not sure if the frame was
strong enough............

I want that grill, but don't want to have to add a mount or rod holder to hold
the grill.........

Thought????

Thanks

Well of course so far I have only used it once, however so far I think it is going to work out very well for me. Had no trouble, really had no concern about the bimini pole being strong enough, seemed very solid to me. So far I like how I have it.

Second voyage with the new Sport 190 was again a resounding success.
Pretty windy and some chop today, we mainly stayed anchored and just had a good time listening to the stereo. Wife loves to lay out in the sun, with temps in the mid to upper 80's today, she got plenty. Me, I am so enjoying having a bimini! Love the shade!

I missed this post last week. Great photos. Very interesting how everyone uses their boats differently. We plan to use ours as more of a transport vehicle to get to the beaches but I am super glad to see it's great at anchor too. I am still deciding on the Magma also. I don't know if a shore grill would be better for us or if just getting the set up you have plus the legs. The water needs to warm up here in the north before we decide which way to go.

I like the upgraded Sony what model is that?

I went with the Magma as we really prefer just staying in the boat anchored, versus beaching the boat. We did beach one time last year, but find it just easier and simpler for us to just anchor and hang out. Yeah a little more room with maybe a table would be nice, but we find it to be still pretty convenient. Now if we had a boat full of folks, that would be different.

I love looking at people's pictures. I was telling Don how I've been out twice on my 230, but still miss the 190 - which is so nimble and easy to drive - and tow! No regrets, but I was going through my old pics and might have to post 'em! :)

Interesting. So that isn't a marine radio. I guess the glove box door is enough to keep it from getting wet. Not a bad price for that online (around $100). Do you know if the wiring harness is the same as stock? I would like the iPod controls and the Pandora would be nice also.

We learned a lot from our first trip last weekend about the 190. The original owner mentioned that he never had the carpet in the boat - we left it in and it was full of sand after a couple stops. Not sure how many power-washing it will take before I ditch it. We also noted that the locking glove box only holds a small amount of stuff. I will probably invest in some locking handles for the ski locker so we can put purses etc in there when we stop for lunch and leave the boat. Took a bit for me to learn the trim on the boat but I think I have it figure out. I have never owned a I/O boat with a swim platform before so it took getting used to using the trim gauge instead of visually seeing the motor trim up (outboard). I still need to figure out how shallow I can go at different trims. I know you aren't supposed to go over 1200 RPM with the trailer tilt all the way up.
