Finally used the new trailer and hauled the boat off our lake down to the Ohio river for the weekend. Used a friends F350 diesel. Unfortunately its not a 4x4 so we needed some help from Quint to get up our ramp. It kept breaking loose. Once out the thing peformed awesome. Towing was a piece of cake. Straight with no sway. Had no problem at all. Wow, do those brakes really grab. Was surprised we made it out on a wet but albeit flatter ramp this morning without any trouble.

I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on a tow vehicle. This was too much fun to not be able to have my own truck.

My only concern was the height of this thing. I think I'm at 13'10" to the top of the glomex.

Give a whole new meaning to low bridge (Grin)
Trailering opens up so many options. Not sure if I could ever give it up.

What ramp did you pull it out at? Were the docks in?

Pull the trigger! There are still some great deals to be had. I've gotten used to driving a 2500 around every day, its not as bad as you'd think.

I pulled it out at the Fairfield ramp which is just north of the marina. Yep, all the docks are in. Oh, if I get a tow vehicle it will hardly be my daily driver. Love my A6 too much for that. I'm going to want to to pull it with a SRW and compare if a dually is that much better. After I figure that out I'll be looking for something in the 2000-2003 7.3L vintage.

The river was great Friday and Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised how little ran came through saturday during the day. By the time we pulled out Sunday morning it was becoming a mess. Check this out! 27-28.5 is ideal. 29 and its starts to have a strong current. 30 and up and it just gets crazy.

Glad to hear it went well. You definitely need a truck to go with that nice trailer....I will be on the lake Wednesday...82 and sunny.

I may join you. I think we are getting the same weather pattern AGAIN this week. 80 and sunny all week then total crap this weekend. 64 saturday.

I hope we don't repeat last Summer's weekend weather pattern.

I'm shooting to be out this weekend, hell or high water!

I can't imagine going to the same dock, next to the same neighbors, so I can boat to the same destination every weekend! I love the flexibility of moving from lake to lake, state to state and even heading to the ocean once in a while.

One thing I noticed and maybe it's because you hadn't done it yet.... Your bimini may or may not survive highway speeds? I always fold ours up and put the boot on it. Then I put some bungees around the ends to make sure it doesn't come off or flap around. Just a thought.....

Don't overlook the Dodge or Chevy diesels as well! There are a lot of GREAT deals out there right now. It's a good time to buys a used vehicle!

Just a thought about the height. Have you looked into hinging the arch? I know somebody else did theirs here on the board.

Yeah, the pics were taking when I was prepping it to re-launch back at my slip. Rain was moving in so I wanted the canvas back up quick.

We love our dock neighbors but being able to move a handlful of times is going to be great.

As for the arch, I don't think I'm need to worry about the height. I could simply remove the glomex if necessary but otherwise for where we travel it shouldn't be an issue.

I love going to the same dock for a couple of reasons. We have a fellow CSR member (83searay) right next to us, and we do a lot of fishing on Lake Michigan. We're limited on lakes around here that are enough for the boat except for the Winnebago chain by Presentation in oshkosh. My parents live on a channel on Lake Winneconne, but we'd never get in there so we keep a smalller boat there.
As for the trucks, I wouldn't be without my Dodge dually. It sure makes a difference even for the twice per year 22 mile trip with the boat. It also comes in handy for the rest of my hauling/towing duties. As our boats got bigger the half tons just didn't do the job.

Congrats on the first haul!!!! You have about 20 more to catch up to me:grin:

I wouldn't lose any sleep over the height of your radar arch and glomex. Mine is at the same height. The only thing that gives me trouble is the trees in my subdivision. If a Semi-Truck travels the road, you will have no troubles.

I use a SRW 350, and have not regretted that decision. The DRW is nice, but much wider and more difficult to find an appropriate parking spot.

Take down all of your canvas. I keep the cockpit cover on, but put directional snaps on the front to keep the cockpit cover attached at speed.

What size wheels are on your trailer?

Thanks for the comments on the SRW. That's my biggest debate right now. I've got 15 in wheels on the trailer. Still need to get my cockpit cover. Can the directional snaps be used on the existing windshield snaps? I don't think so.
