My first experience with "Smoove" and a Dewalt cordless rotary

Non- skid looks great. Results of using BG or Procut? What wax was used to finish off?

Those photos are pro-cut and bubble gum on the non-skid. So far I've skipped waxing the non-skid with that Ferecla above. The BG allegedly has a polymer wax included so wax isn't necessary, if I'm reading it correctly.

Everything is deadly slick to the socked feet right now. Part of me thinks I should leave the non-skid with just the BG finish, avoid any further increase in potential slippery-ness. But I also want it to stay looking like it does for as long as possible. Tough decisions...I'll probably wax it right before launch. I'm the only sucker up on the bow 90% of the time anyway :)

After waiting three weeks I finally received my 20 volt Dewalt rotary polisher. Going to give it a whirl today. I am using the 3m Perfect-it three step cut and polish approach. I am going to finish with Mcguires 50 and 3M wax mainly just to use up a stock plie. Over the years I see something that is acclaimed to be the best and buy some and end up with a locker full of partial bottles. I am going to use it all up on different panels on the boat this year, document what product was used where and see if there is a tangible difference in performance before I try the next best thing. I appreciate you all posting your experiences.

Has anyone had a bad experience buying non dewalt brand batteries.
I ordered two 6AH batteries from Amazon for $66 bucks.I’ll give them a try. I found that I got about 40 minutes of polishing with the 6AH battery I have and want to have three total. I really like the performance of the polisher. The DC motor does not bog down at all and not having a cord to deal with is just awesome. I will be fashioning a lanyard of some kind to keep the polisher from going for a swim though.

I wouldn’t. I work with the folks at DeWalt that design these battery systems, so I see what goes into them. A lot of care is taken in their design - not only to maximize power output and longevity - but also to make sure they charge and operate safely. Remember, these are lithium batteries and they are going to be under a lot of stress, electrically and thermally. I wouldn’t trust an aftermarket battery in the tool or the charger. I’d use the battery that was designed to work properly and safely with the tool and the charger. And that goes for DeWalt, Milwaukee or whomever.

I've tried the generic brand batteries on Amazon. My experience is that they're exactly worth what you pay for them. They hold substantially less charge (run time) and they go downhill much, much more quickly than OEM.

+1…. I supplied parts to Dewalt and worked with them on a prototype table saw… the design and research they put into products is outstanding …. I don’t buy anything else

Great input guys. Since I already bought them I will be extra careful when I use and charge them. It will be fun to compare to the 6AH Dewalt anyway.
Since they will be used so sporadically, I did not want $300 in batteries sitting on the shelf only to have Diminished capacity when I need them a year from now.

Let us know what you learn! I'm running 5AH batteries. The only time my body was able to outlast a battery was on the hull sides. Up top...I think a 0.5AH battery would be enough to kill my knees and back :)

I'm completely Ego with all of my outside yard tools. Nothing but Ego batteries even though knockoffs are available now. I'm finally needing to replace a couple of the small ones this summer. They've lasted 5 years.
I am a huge Stihl fan…. I think I have one of everything. I even have a stihl battery blower for the boat. It really comes in handy

When we rented that house in feb down in key west…. We had this huge tree in the back yard that puked leaves like it was it’s job. The house had an ego battery blower that I used twice a day. It had a regular trigger and it had a boost button to increase airflow…. The boost is what you wanted regular to be. The problem boost would only work for a couple minutes.. then the thing would shut off for maybe 20 seconds…. Then you could go again. I don’t think it was broken…. I thought it was saving battery or something. In any event it was frustrating

I've had the leaf blower for 5 years and finally the battery is causing it to do that. With a good battery, it'll run on the max power for about 10 minutes. Regular it'll run maybe 20-25 minutes. I actually used it to blow the snow off the drive this winter (inch or so of the fluffy stuff)

I assumed it was new because box was there and a dead blower was on the floor….. but who knows it was a rental

Crap, thought I hit reply with my #74 answer. Sitting in Howell outside Ascension waiting on wife and MIL

maybe now that it's looking nice you could hit it with the starbrite nonskid cleaner? It isn't a wax, but has ptfe in it and does a nice job of keeping ours clean. I usually scrub the bow and side decks every couple of weeks with it and it leaves a ton of traction on the nonskid

have yet to do a one after the other comparison on performance but I see the writing on the wall. Ya get what ya pay for for sure.
