My cheap Harbor Freight polishing tool, who’s laughing now?

.........the boat is looking good - when do you put it in?

Thank you Dennis.

The marina wants us to launch. I told them to hold off and leave my boat where it is for now.

The forecast is for 8 inches of wet heavy snow over the next 48 hours.

Some boats are already launched. Others have been removed from the building and put on blocks / stands outdoors.

If the forecast is correct, I fear some canvas will be damaged on some of the boats.

I can finish the remainder of my spring commissioning in the slip.

I still need to clean and treat the canvas, clean the cockpit, treat the seats, commissions the fresh water system, clean the cabin then load provisions.

The boat looks great, and I'm glad to hear your HF buffer is going strong. I have a Makita that I've owned for years. If it ever dies I'll be looking at HF for a replacement.

Gotta luv "global warming", huh? :smt101

You're right - that's probably a good call leaving it under a roof for now.

It's interesting talking about all the things we do to get our boats ready for the season. Even though it's a lot of things to do, I always view it (and I assume most others do, as well) as a happy thing - since it's leading towards a good thing.

The Makita will out live you Mike. no worries about replacing it. I never bought into the PC 7424 hype, and I see others are finally seeing the light. Many of them for sale on CL and local classifieds. as long as the HF rotatry is still working, that is good. Even Chevy made a few Vega's that lasted.

Hey folks without searching back threads can you confirm this is the unit below and where are you getting the 7" velcro wool pads.... dont see them at Harbor. Also, I didn't quite understand the $5 buffers a year comment on pads from dpmulvey. Much appreciated!

Yes, that is the tool. I think the pad is Harbor Freight Item # 92100 but that price seems low. I paid more like $7 for 1 pad. It was on the display next to the tool at the store.

I think he was joking. I hope he was joking. He said he purchased a 2 year extended warranty for $10. So when he gets close to 2 years after the purchase date you could hold the wheel in something like a vice, prevent the wheel from turning, press the button and hold the tool until it burns out the motor then bring it into the store for a new one. So after spending $10 and 2 years = $5/year, he gets a new buffer. Again, I hope he was kidding. I do not do that. I do not even buy the extended warranty.
