My boat renovation.

Your journey has been nothing short of amazing... Thanks for sharing !!
Thank you. Looking back on it I really don't know how we did it. To be honest I have lost a bit of steam in the last 5 weeks but am looking forward to getting back on track.
Thanks again for the comment.

I can understand that for sure... you and your family have put a lot of energy into a labor of love. Great blog, I really enjoy following.

Thank you,
JB

Lots of small items. At the moment she is in the shop at the marina getting the body work done. I'm hoping they will send me photos soon so I can post them on the blog. I will be getting monthly invoices so maybe will be getting the photos then.
As for my work here is an incomplete list:
- Lounge chairs for the bow area with cushions
- Getting the wood slats ready for the windlass area
- Building the storage/seating unit for in front of the transom
- Panels for the cockpit area
- Wrapping the ceiling panels for the salon
- Completing drawer fronts and trim for the glass doors
- Refinishing the white cabinet doors for the galley. These were damaged when we shipped the boat to the marina. We forgot to secure the microwave in place
- Making a mirror for above the vanity
- Glass door for the shower/head
- Various small bits of trim
- Custom stainless window trim

The majority of the work will start in late March sometime. That is when we will head up to the boat for a few days at a time to install what we have made. Hoping to have everything done by the end of April. Then she goes on her first long trip ... about 5 hours ... to get fitted for a new bimini and flooring for the cockpit. Looking at getting a removable canopy for over the lounge chairs on the bow just in front of the windshields.

I have never wished away a winter before but March/April is going to be so nice.

Amazing project!!! Calling you a MASTER Carpenter would be an insult. Truly remarkable craftmanship!! Kudos!
Did you happen to wear a "step counter" to track how many miles you made between the boat and the shop each day???LOL I'll bet you almost walked to B.C.!!!

Once they open the border to Lake Huron/Michigan for us boaters to Canada, will you ever get over towards Mackinac Island or do you stick to Georgian bay?

Amazing job...love reviewing all the details and craftmanship. The fit and finish is impeccable!

Good Morning. I don't disagree. Donald knows what he is doing. As for the kilometers (what is this mile you talk about??) I can't even begin to guess. Sometimes fitting one piece might mean several trips back and forth. We will be staying in the Georgian Bay area for a few years at least before we venture further out.
Once we can get back to the marina (and the weather warms up) the majority of the work will be done. Crossing our fingers that we are 99.?% done by the end of June. If you find yourself in our area you are most welcome to come by to visit.
Thanks for following along. I am expecting photos of the body work from the marina soon and will update the blog.

My faux pas!!! I should know better than to confuse the two when chatting with our great friends to the north!!...LOL (miles vs KM)

Many years ago I remodeled my 370 salon flooring, hatches and seat cushions. Holy jeepers...the steps out of the salon, through cockpit, down ladder to the cutting table, up the ladder, across cockpit down into salon...it was a LOT of steps!! Truly the first time I can say that boating helped me lose weight!!! ;)

I saw the pics of the Toronto boat show from last year and the Highfield dinghy. I purchased my Highfield from CO2 inflatables in Midland, but picked it up at the Oakville location. That was a LONG drive for a dinghy, but the value and cost made it the smart choice. The same model in the states was $5g more and I would have to wait 6-8 weeks. Les had it ready for me in 1 week. 6 hours to Oakville, 1 hour at store, 6 hours back home, dinghy floating at 6:30 pm...Great day, and we were able to stop at Tim Horton's...BONUS!!!

I also saw pics of the dinghy lift from that show...my friend is waiting to get his...damn virus screwed up his order. They can't come to him and he can't go to them...a real shame as he really wants the dinghy lift for this summer.

AGAIN, Great job and will look forward to seeing more.

Yeah...I'm not walking near as much now. Definitely well worth the drive for the dinghy. When you can get 30% more bang for your buck right away it definitely helps. Funny... I don't go to Timmies much. I guess when it's in your own back yard...
If you are referring to The Dinghy Davit - Francois was great to deal with. Can he not ship it to your friend? We installed ours and it was fairly easy.
We are missing being able to travel to the states. I think of all of the trips we have made to NYC and we did a two week road trip from San Diego to San Francisco about 6 years ago. Loved it. Definitely miss it. Hopefully we will all be done with the covid mess in 2021.

I love it..."We installed ours and it was fairly easy." With the massive amount of talent you all have, I am sure it was easy...considering what you did to the rest of the boat, this was a walk in the park!! :)

I'll check with my buddy...he stores his boat at my facility and I see him every weekend. I know he was taking measurements this past weekend to send to them...at least we can get across the border via email still!! They have yet to shut that down, but I wouldn't put it past anyone...LOL
