For that age boat, she looks great! Must have been covered a lot...

A little elbow grease and you are good to go...

Yo. I am looking for a project boat - West Coast - Vancouver based. 2 ?'s Can I get suggestions on some of the "classic" Sea Rays to restore - am thinking less than 35' - lots of deck space. First project and newbie to boat restoration - any reference books or sites available? Thanks.

Looks good. Doug's Right, a little elbow great and some buffer time and she should turn out really good.

Jimmy Welcome, If you start your own thread in Classic boats, I have a couple links for you that are local to us.

Timmy,

Very nice boat. I have restored the same boat made in '83 as a Sundancer. I can help if you have questions.

What I have done already
-all new cabin interior upolstery and cushions
-redid every cabinet door myself
-BUFFED BUFFED BUFFED Removed baked on decals (very long process) redid the 2 inch in olympic blue and added the SEA RAY decals where it used to say WEEKENDER, BUFfED BUFFED BUFFED
-added a 3 bank smart battery charger
-installed dsc capable vhf radio and antenna
-installed garmin chartplotter and integrated it with vhf radio
-installed new radio w/ wired remote at helm
-installed 2 speakers on upper part of transom and used pre outs to amp to power them(pics to come)
-Removed ski eye and replaced with chrome flag staff for Old Glory(pics to come)
-installed another amp to improve sound quality of cockpit speakers that I replaced this year
-#1 on my switch starts starboard and is house bank, installed 2 new group 27's in parrelel for that bank.
What I am doing now
-rear cockpit seat was a bad design, so i removed the teak cup holder section and shorted it, now to walk in the transom door you don't have to step on the seat. Still need to bring it to my vinyl guy
what is next
-All new fuel hoses
-Electronic ignition conversion from points
-new bottom paint in spring
-power buff and hand buff one more time in spring before wax and polish
-then I'll find something else!!!!

Sounds good. Keep us posted. Looks like you're on the right path. The project certainly don't end

Did you use Meguiars products when you buffed? Looks really nice. share some photos of the interior, if you get a chance.

Yes I used meguires medium cut with a milwaukee hi speed polisher and an assortment of pads. I will post pics of the redone cabin once I open it up in the spring.
***I also hand buffed after power buffing!
