My 260 SD Sea Trial Yesterday

My wife and I did our sea trial yesterday on the 04 260 we are purchasing. I was very concerned after reading many of the reads about the boat's power, a 5.0L MPI engine. After sea trialing the boat yesterday that power is more than enough for our needs (wife, 5 year old, 1 year old, and myself). WOT got me to 33 knots in 30mph winds in a fairly nice chop. We have a 2004 245 Weekender with a 5.0L NON-MPI. The MPI makes such a difference. I just touched the throttle and the boat moved. My boat seems like a tank compared to the 260.

Although I would have liked to at least have the 5.7L engine I'm fine with this knowing it's not my last boat. Heck we just bought our 245 last year and already we're trading it. This one we'll keep for at least 2 or 3 years.

Congrats!!! It's great to hear the sea trial went well. I am waiting for the Michigan weather to warm up so I can do the same thing. I join Drama Queen in toasting to a great summer boating season!!

Glad to hear about the sea trail. Are you talking about a 260 Dancer(DA) or Sundeck(SD). I did not think Sea Ray made a 260 SD in 04? You may want to PM Wesley (First Born) about changing the topic name.

Congrats on your purchase. I have the 350 mag in my 04 260 Dancer. Your speed readings in a 30mph breeze? seem high. Running downwind I presume. No doubt MPI is the way to go.
