MR Drives

So I,ve had a 1985 260 weekender for about a year now. Have done alot of work to cabin, the twin 190/3.7L mercs and decals and buffing. I love the boat. I have 2 manuals from mercruiser that say MR drives. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yes, the MR is the predecessor the the Alpha. Most of the Alpha design is carry over from the MR and I-MR drives. Some of the parts even interchange. It's a decent sterndrive. Pretty well proven and reliable as sterndrives go. MR is about right for 1985. The Alpha didn't show up for another year or two.
