I am looking to upgrade the salon TV/VCR above the fridge in my 1997 400DA. I am thinking of making a set up similar to that of the new 07 380 where you have an LVF on a pole type mount in the cockpit but I want to go one step further and be able to remove it from the cockpit and take it into the salon and use it there on a similar mount. Is this totally crazy? Does anyone have any ideas on this subject? :smt017

Captian Dave From "Pollups of the Caribean" did this last year. He has Skipper Buds do the work. It looked like all purchased items. The two Rails came out for storage under his sink. Dont forget to add an HDTV reciever if your LCD is not already.

When I was looking at the new Sundancers at the boat show, I noticed one of them had a flat panel LCD TV that needed no connections of any kind. It was in the cockpit on a mount but you could pick it up and move it anywhere. I would imagine it gets it signal via RF somehow and is probably battery operated. Other than that, I can't give you anymore details.

Thanks Dave. I think that it was the new 380 Sundancer where I saw it but the one I saw had connecting couplings. You could move it but it definitely had wires. I'd really be interested to see the one without wires. That would be great. The one I saw was located starboard side just between the captains seat at the helm and passenger seat aft where the ice bucket and cup holders usually are.
Appreciate your input.

I installed a flat screen with built in DVD player on my 390DA. I used the same model TV that is currently being used on the 40DA. I purchased the pole mount and base from Sea Ray parts.

The base unit was mounted in the fibreglass behind the helm seat and the pole simply slides into it. I then connect the 12v plug and the quick connect coax plug.

This allows me to remove the unit and lock inside cabin when we are not at the boat.

This would be a good way to use the same TV inside the cabin if you have a spot to install the mount.

Thanks Two Buoys for the inof. IF it's not too much to ask, could you tell me what size LCD TV you used and how much the parts from Sea Ray cost? Did you run all the cables yourself and if you did, was it very difficult?

Thanks,
OJ

I know someone who has a sharpe aquos that is velcroed on to a slim DVD player with rubber feet on it.

worked for him and you can even take it off the boat in the winter or if you are leaving the boat for a while and bring it home.

the sharp had nice feet for this purpose.

This is the LCD TV/DVD that I installed. As I pointed out, it is the exact model S R offered on the 2006 40DA. This unit runs on 12v or 120v. I did the complete install myself - around 6 hours.

I have a 2005 390DA and the install was fairly easy. Ran the wires through the access to the starboard side of the cockpit - accessible through a removeable panel. Hooked up through 12v so that kids can watch tv/dvd's while on the hook without running genny. Also ran coax from main splitter to tv so that unit gets antena/cable signal as the rest of the tvs on the boat.

I have some photos, but no idea how to post them - I can email to you.

I purchased the mount, which is 2 separate parts, from my local SR dealer. Somewhere around $100 - 150 Canuck dollars, but if my memory serves me, the shipping was a large part of the cost.

Hello Two Buoys,

Can you please e-mail me the photos from your installation.

Thanks in advance Peter

for a slightly different mod, check my boat in the virtual marina.
I used a 17" HP monitor mounted to a Samsung HD receiver to create a digital TV in the same space as the old 13" TV/VCR combo unit.

Still looking at a 26-32" Olevia for the wall behind the console in the salon as the ultimate spot.
