Mounting fenders to the dock

Hi boatrboy. Just one word of caution because although I didn't have as many fenders as you I had a few. The constant up down movement of boat rubbing against your boot stripes and fenders may rub the stripes away a bit. Happened to me. Just my 2 cents
Thanks for the heads up mygirl - if you zoom in you can see I placed them over the boot stripe and don't continue them to the stern to avoid that issue on the graphics. I will admit even with the vertical fender I still get some scratches on my graphics but not too bad.

This thread is timely.

A friend who left our marina, attached just 2 fenders to the dock lengthwise. I just finished removing them. The constant up and down motion marked the spot on my hull. The wax was gone and the mark noticeable. It took me all afternoon with Buff Magic and some wax to get it back to the rest of the hull.

Walking the gunwales is part of the equation. If not, you'll need a lot of time and elbow grease if you keep them on the dock like in the pic.

My 2 cents.

I have had this set up for at least 7-8 years without issue. I think the big issue with marking is keeping the fenders clean. I scrub them every spring and wash them every boat wash.

We have 2x4’s cover with carpet and I tied two fenders where the stern meets the dock. The dock it 16 feet wide and my 330 is just under 12 feet. I use two spring line each side, plus two bow and two aft. The boat is pretty staedy, but still has the ability to move a little. I set out my fenders when we leave at the end of the weekend, just in case. I haven’t been doing this long enough to know if I’m not doing enough or overkill!
