I have no clue about the mooring system but just wanted to know if it's safe to mooring the 280DA. Thanks~

you need to provide more details. Mooring while dining, or mooring for the whole season? When you say safe what do you mean, is the boat going to be there when you comeback? Then, how 280 is different from anyother boat, even sailboat for that matter?

I guess this is a very obvious and stupid question... Mooring for the season, instead of dock slip. I didn't see any larger (bigger than 24ft) boats moored at local marina. I didn't know if it's ok for 280DA, being 31ft to be moored. Thanks

I never did it for the season, but I don't see why not. You just need to know some details like if there's anough room, depth, will the ball hold your boat fine. So, as long as marina management says it's ok then you should be fine. I would also check with your insurance company if they didn't have any storage restrictions, just in case.

With proper tackle, with a good location, safe for the season. See signature picture.

See Chapmen for details on sizing as well local harbormaster for specifications and approvals.

ps this the fourth year our 280 has spent the season our 280 has spent on a mooring.

I'd get some kinda solar power setup to keep the batteries charged so that your bilge pump is always ready to go.

Todd,
Yes. We have a 1600 lb concrete block in the front, 10 feet of 1/2 chain and 15 feet of 3/8". Because we are also in a narrow river (and local ordinance), we have the same chain set up in the rear and a 500 lb block. Out front on the sound chain length is off course longer and most boats our size are on 500 lb steel mushroom anchors.

Yeah, I knew you had a mooring bouy, I just didn't understand the OP's question.

That's a pretty stout set-up you have.
