Month Long Cruise PCB - Key West - 340

There is a long no wake zone between Sarasota and Venice, but from Venice to Boca Grande, there are a few short ones. Several Restarants at the Venice inlet, Pops to the north, Crows nest & Marker 4 to the south. And a bunch of others along the ICW from there on. Many other places to anchor too.

Watch out for Charlotte Harbor to the south, very rough at times?

Late last night, then lunch with my cousins, Jim and Pat, and Jenny:

Plan: Sitting tight tonight due to unfavorable winds tonight, then press early tomorrow due to favorable winds.

Tues mid-day and night - Venice area - looking for an anchorage with walking access to beach, if avail - otherwise, a great marina.

Wed afternoon and night - Marco Island or so - looking for same as above.

Thurs - Direct to the Keys - anchor out 2 or 3 nights, then on to Key West.

We need to get gas twice, once along the West Coast, then once near Marco Island - looking for recommendations.

Looks like you are having a great time John! Travel safe.

I think we're going to do the Crow's nest tomorrow night (Venice). We'll find an anchorage the next night, then maybe Marathon, then a few nights on the hook in the Keys, then Key West.

Don't let me miss a "Must See" area.

John, what have fuel prices been running on your trip (just curious)?

John, what have fuel prices been running on your trip (just curious)?

Panama City 3.10 - 89, no ETOH
Carabelle Moorings 3.10 - up to 10% ETOH
Port Hudson Marina 3.70 - 89, no ETOH

We called ahead to compare - Tarpon Springs said 3.63 - type unknown.

We're trying to invent a scoop for later on (oil spill).

Hell of an adventure John! Continued safe travels...

Enjoying it....you are covering some water!

I told you I would register! I saw the pic of Shelli lying down and said to myself, I bet she doesn't feel so good. Hope all is going great. Wish Donna and I were able to follow. So far y'all (southern for "you guys") seem to be having a wonderful time.

Looks like a lot of fun, John. Great pix, although I wasn't able to see the clips (PB shows an error loading them). How much extra fuel you carry with you? Going 160miles with no fuel up options is kind of a risky approach.

Bon Voyage!

Hey Hal!

We're at the Crow's Nest at the Venice Inlet. We're going over for a early dinner. Locals - come have a beer with us. If you need to contact me, call the restaurant/bar and page us. Way behind on pics. More later.

100 miles today on 1 foot seas - beautiful.

Yes, but like I said, I could have turned East for a shorter route to a marina, could have slowed down and added 100 miles... and other options. I wanted to get really solid numbers before we needed to know them. I know you're looking out for us, and I appreciate that.

John,

That sounds great that you made it to Venice. Were you in the ICW, or outside? Either way, you went past my favorite island and the namesake of my boat, Anna Maria.

Mike

So far so good! Love the pics! What kind of engine prep did you perform prior to leaving?

Stay safe!
