John,

As soon as Dominic picks his 460 you can step in and take control of his 410...There, problem solved.....

Yep, I've already planted that seed with Dominick.............timing might be perfect.

Frank, when we were leaving Baltimore Monday, you said, "John, I smell gas", what exactly did you mean by that

John

Thanks for the great trip

:smt089 I feel like my vacation just ended and it's monday back at work.

Great Stuff!! I looked forward to reading these every day... I really am not sure what to do with my time now!!! Will someone else PLEASE go on vacation

Gary, you forgot to mention that while the trip was about a $10k venture, it cost almost that much to replace the electronics that the dogs ate!

Oh yeah, started the "first" season last night, I think Karen is addicted.......Thanks a lot!!

Oh yeah...don't be fooled by the Nirvana2 screen name..My daughter paid a surprise visit and I had no idea she was a member. She signed on yesterday and forgot to log off so I was using her ID this morning..Sorry..

Hate when these things happen......

John, I only commented on the gas smell because I know you would have rather sensed the aroma of burning diesel!!!

Yea Frank, I knew what you were saying...............I was going to say that it was the gas Michele just passed, but I figured that the ride back would be brutal

John

I very much enjoyed reading about your adventures.

....I noticed as we came up to my dock, that a boat was parked on the north side and was plugged into one of my shore power outlets. And when I got home, there is a $120 electric bill for the dock waiting for me…. Hmmm… maybe whoever left the boat meant for it to be a gift....

I’m looking forward to hearing the explanation about this.

Tied up to your private dock would require a explanation however I can think of some reasonable explanations like a boat where the motor died and they were tied as they were going to get a tow, or some part to fix it or had a medial emergency, etc.

Being plugged into your shore power? I think that would have upset me more then it seems to have upset you. The fuel equivalent would be a siphon hose from your boat to theirs. Stealing is stealing.

Gary, it was great meeting you and your family. That software upgrade will also put a warning dialogue box up on the screen whenever the seacocks are closed...

I feel priveleged to be mentioned in this great thread....It is definetly going to be on my "Re-reads" list for those cold winter days...

see Ya'll again.....

Gary, Count me in as another that thoroughly enjoyed the pictures, prose, and humor in the daily installments of your family's vacation journal. It's been a few days, however, (withdrawal?) and I (and I'm sure the rest of the world) am anxiously awaiting the final chapter entitled "The Unexpected Dock-guest"! Thanks again for a very enjoyable thread.

Gary, This was some of the best reading ever. The pictures were great, and was great seeing your family. Spent most of the day reading on and off at work. Thanks again for the entertainment. It was great!

So a strange boat was tied up to your dock. . .and they actually USED $120 worth of power?

My house has a monthly power bill of about $70 -> including AC use!

Does this imply the boat has been there for a long time?

Hmmm. . .I wonder what the "lost property" rules are. I mean, if you leave a lawnmower on my yard for a week, I don't think the police would have a problem if you moved it into your locked garage. . .

But f it was a car in your driveway -> I don't think you could put it in your garage, but you could certainly have it towed away.

OOOOHHHHH. I just had an EVIL thought:

First, replace the ignition switches in the vagrant boat so that you now have keys for the boat, and the vagrant owner does not have keys. Then stick two "FOR SALE" signs on the boat (with your phone number). Make sure your dock and property have appropriate no trespassing signs. Leave a copy of the power bill on the the dash of the boat. Perhaps add an appropriate mooring fee. ($65 per day?) I bet you will get a call soon enough. . .

(Changing out the ignition switches would be the equivelent of "booting" the boat, rather than doing something that actually harms the boat. It would probably make him call you, without simply driving off!)

BTW, I have two sons, if I can scrounge up two more, can I have a boat like yours?

I guess that's one strategy to get the wife to agree to a bigger boat... have more kids so they all won't fit on the current boat. And if you want them right away, just go "scrounge" them up like you said (juvenile detention center would work) and tell your wife that they are your children but from different women from your past. That way, you could probably avoid the whole "baby" thing.

"Here honey... these 3 kids are from 3 different girls from my college days. Can I get a bigger boat now?"

Good luck. Take pictures of the expression on her face and post it here.

Gary,
Sounds like a plan! Fabricating some “wild oats†might just work.

It was nice to meet you and your family at the Chester River Aquapalooza. Our golden retriever especially enjoyed meeting your two dogs and the opportunity to exchange the obligatory “butt sniffâ€.
After talking for a time with your oldest boy, as he was sitting with us while the dogs were playing, I can’t believe anything remotely negative written about your sons in the travel log. He spoke highly of you and his siblings, knew how to conduct himself in mixed company and was a complete gentleman. Or, maybe he was just trying to impress JeffM’s daughter. Either way he is a delightful young man.
