Model Number, 197-1/0..need to find out year of boat

I'm a newby, I bought a Sea Ray at auction and have no idea the age of the boat,.It is in restorable condition. I need to find out what year it is, It has a 5.7 liter engine.

I'm a newby, I bought a Sea Ray at auction and have no idea the age of the boat,.It is in restorable condition. I need to find out what year it is, It has a 5.7 liter engine.

The VIN number should be located on the transom on the starboard side (right facing front from the rear). The last digit should be the year of manufacture i.e. 3 would indicate 1973, 5 would mean 1975.
At least that is how it works on later models that I am familiar with.

Hydro, for sure. Located in center of Ok. on I-40 exit 88..Old RR town shipping out grain by rail and a water stop for the steam engines....Thanks for the help..I will look again. The v197 1/0 was on the coast guard sticker under the steering. It has a serial No. maybe I can work with that..Thanks again, Jim

Check the transom for a number. It should be there.

I really like your home towns name. I worked for Manitoba Hydro for 35 years and have named my boat Hydro-Therapy. (Actually, I think there are at least 2 other boats on this forum named that)
