OK. I have read a lot on this MMSI stuff and I have to ask again to be sure.
Is there any way to put in a new MMSI number in my Northstar NS-100?
It seems that someone (PO, selling dealer, etc.) put in 12345678 in my unit. I tried to go down to the boat and input my new number (thinking that the 12345678 was just a placeholder). I never thought anyone would put a wrong number in deliberately instead of just leaving it blank. Of course, no success.
I am just trying to get a final confirmation that my only option is to send the unit back to the manufacturer to be reset. BTW, what, exactly, has to be sent back? The handset, the main "box", both?
Does anyone know how much Northstar charges for this?
FWIW, I don't have a problem with my NS-100. It works fine for me on our river, so I'd rather not upgrade unless it is the same price to reset the unit as it would be to buy a new unit.
