don;'t feel bad Oldskool. i ran with pride in my '94 170 signature for years. Pride is pride no matter how big your junk...I mean boat.

People who own Ram trucks or any Dodge products should not be bashing anyone choice in boats :smt043

i'd take my 5.9 over anything on the road right now. had a 488ci V-10 in the last one. neither of them ever let me down.

dammit I get a double slam in this thread in less than two minutes.

Here's a jab,,, don't know how accurate it is though. A buddy was just negotiating a treacherous entrance to a bay in the gulf islands at low tide. He lost his chartplotter power for a few minutes and hit a reef at about 3 knots with his 320. The rising tide floated them off within less than an hour. When the boat was repaired the ship yard told him that he was lucky he had a Sea Ray because if it was a Bayliner it would have sunk. Do ya'll think they're really that much thinner? I know they must be saving money SOMEWHERE to present such a competitive price but the ones we've been on seem to have a solid ride.

Definitely.

Our dealer sells both Sea Ray and Bayliner, plus some fishing brands, so we see the difference in the rigging shop and glass repair shop, and when you take one out is a good chop. Bayliner is a great boat for its market, but in order to be a value leader, the cost of labor and materials has to be lower. To get a lower cost, the layup schedule has to be highly engineered and much lighter.

I am sorry if that offends the Bayliner owners, but, it is what it is..................

I've aways told folks this and I will stick to it, Bayliner is a great starter boat. Low prices, and it gets folks out on the water. Some good boaters learn the ropes and basics. Then they start to want more from their boats and relize Bayliner won't cover those needs. Would I take one out in the Bay, yes.....during a good VA thunderstorm.....NO! Thin hulls and thunderstorm chop don't mix, plus the light weight the wind pushed me around like paper. I wanted will built, heavy, and a classic....I bought a SeaRay!

I will say bayliner is a good entry level craft with a budget price.
And would be curious how they would compare to the stingray brand our SR dealer seems to sell so many of.
in comparison to some I talk very little smack about BL .
everything I own are the pre bowling ball boats and are of very good quality maybe the pride in ownership of a SR makes us take better care of the old tubs because seems like every old BL cruiser I see is generally trashed and neglected

 This is my FOURTH BayHole. Capri line thin, Avanti and MY lines are as solid as your babies are in each size class - at least in the old ones I can afford.

Good news though. Trading the boat in sig line for a check this Friday. I will be BayHoleless.

But I still have my 1979 Carver that I'll put up in any seas against any of your SeaHoles.

And I'll keep an eye out for the missing boat, because of course this is what the thread is about.

Now we all know Bayliners are made in the same plants as Sea Ray so they can't be any different...

Sea Ray hull just out of the mold at 2012 Homecoming:

Bayliner hull just out of the mold at same event:

Looks identical to me.

Oops, still had my Bayliner blinders on and couldn't see reality...

(I'm good with this discussion, just wish it was not in this thread about a stolen boat. That said it does get exposure.)

This pic just proves what we already knew. Bayliner owners have "thin skin!"

wow that is a big difference, bayliners are great starter boats. no matter what boat everyone owns, we all have the same love of boating and i know that anyone on this site will take appropriate actions if they spot the stolen boat

Sick feeling no doubt, after you've made all the inquiries and it's not just a case of the marina pulling the wrong boat, or moving it etc.
If/when they do catch the thieves, it's just a shame that keelhauling is no longer a legal punishment in the U.S. or Canada....:smt013

Kinda like used SeaRays :smt043

Nope!

Used Sea Rays are among the best choices for entry level boats, but for the (new only) crowd Bayliner is a good choice. Last I heard Bayliner was not selling cruisers in the states anymore, so it is likely a moot point. I thought it ironic that asking prices on the big boat sites for a boat like was stolen and a 240DA of the same year were did not have a huge spread. MM
