Minneapolis freeway bridge collapses over Miss. River

I am a physician at HCMC (Level 1 trauma center in downtown Minneapolis). We participate in these disaster drills fairly frequently. It has been quite surreal to take part in the real thing tonight.
 
Surreal is the right word. I happened to be working late last night (which itself is unusual) and could see from the 19th floor of our office building the commotion, lights, and smoke.
 
Thoughts and prayers to the families and all involved.

Unfortunately this is a repeat of the mianus River bridge in Cos Cob,Ct. which a span of I-95 collapsed or just fell off of 24 years ago, many were also killed. Since then basically every bridge in ct was rebuilt, and or repaired. This should be a national program, bridges should not collapse every 20 years here or there.
