So son is at Minneapolis airport and lost. Maps are useless. Trying to get to Terminal 2 for a flight in a few hours. Landed in Terminal 1 a short while ago. Can't find the LRT or tram and he said he cannot find any workers to ask. Told him to head to security checkpoint but the maps are pretty poor. Ugh. His flight out of Williston, ND was delayed so he missed his flight and has to sit until 5:00 AM

He made it back to Pittsburgh. This was all jacked up because of his flight out of ND getting delayed. He had it all figured out where to go but once he got to Minn he had to figure out where the gate was for his rescheduled flight. Took him about 30 minutes to figure it out then he got to terminal 2 and the gates were locked with no TSA so he had to go back to terminal 1 to sit for a few hours (terminal 2 is closed from 10:00PM to 3:30AM but he never saw any signage saying it was closed). He said the signage and maps there were useless.

i saw those directions you linked and read them to him but he couldn't find anything identifying any ramps. he is getting married in October and is working in ND for a few months. He flew back so he could get hid marriage license today so he HAD to get here today.

That is a lousy night, but air travel has been really difficult this summer. I fly every week, and have traveled for work for more than 20 years. This summer has been the worst I can remember for delays and cancellations.

I have top status so they take pretty good care of me, and is even difficult for me to work my way through the system sometimes. For someone who doesn't travel often it can be really difficult and really frustrating.

What you describe about navigating terminals and gates, missing flights, poor signage and information is prevalent. Some airports are definitely better that others, both in terms of design and staffing.

Glad he made it back, and I hope things go smoother for him as we move into the fall.

Thanks. He is flying back Monday morning. He had to buy a truck to get there. He is a safety coordinator on the gas pipeline. He had a company truck (F150) but he wasn't allowed to tow with a company truck. They told him he was heading to North Dakota and only gave him a week notice. He lives in his camper (about 8000lbs) so only had 1 week to buy a truck. I had to go look and test drive them for him. He ended up with a 2018 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi. He towed his camper home 200 miles on a Saturday afternoon and had to leave the next morning for a 1500 mile trip to ND. Definitely rushed.

Yeah. Unfortunately he didn't have a choice. Had to get back home 1500 miles away to get his marriage license. Takes 3 days to drive it and has to be back for work Tuesday morning. He will have to fly home again for the wedding in October. In fact, all 4 of my kids have flown somewhere in the past month (one to Myrtle Beach, one to Charlotte, one home from ND, and one to Milwaukee). This last flight was the only one that had any issues.

I wish I saw this last week. I fly out of Minn. routinely and find it pretty easy to navigate. However, I always fly Delta, so have never needed to switch terminals. Maybe I'm just very used to it. Mike

well his return flight wasn't any better but he made it...lol. Left Pittsburgh on schedule about 5:30AM Monday but his flight out of Minneapolis was delayed 5 hours due to weather in Williston, ND. Once they got on the plane the pilot told them there was a mechanical issue with the tail wing but that they 'should be' fine. ugh. He said that flight went good

lol. yeah. not sure what kind of plane it was but he said you only have 3 options flying out of Williston. Denver, Minneapolis, and can't remember the other. He has to fly home in October for his wedding and will probably fly out of Bismarck in case there are more delays. At least then he will have more options

Daughter flew from Pittsburgh to Austin, TX Tuesday then back tonight. Left Austin with a layover in Charlotte. She is back here now and no delays...lol. Short trip but it was for work.
