Just thought I'd start a list of 'local' boaters in the SE Wisconsin and NE Illinois area. This would be helpful in a myriad of ways - - maybe specialty tool borrowing, general chatting, or even just a way to meet folks that may be on here in your marina that are a few docks away. That is where we raft every year to watch the fireworks on the 3rd of July - great water and perfect for a raft-up!

We haven't done the MKE fireworks from the boat yet. We did the Kenosha ones last year from about 1/4 mile off shore. It was awesome. If you recall, it was soooo hot that day. Easily dropped 20 degrees on the water!!

 

[Escapade]

The high for July 3rd was 103. That is the day of our annual " Rock The Dock" party. We had a band on the aft deck of dock neighbors boat. That was hot!

Who is the resident graphix expert for Northpoint Harbor. Need some registration numbers printed for the boat. Recommendation is appreciated.

I just used http://doityourselflettering.com/ for our boat name.

For reg numbers, I used west marines kit where they make a single piece. It's pretty nice. Did it for the boat and the ding....

I usually launch from Northpoint. No slip- just trailer the 24 footer. I live just 1/4 mile from the launch.
I have also used John Rich Signs in Winthrop Harbor for boat lettering- more so for the boat name, not for numbering.
His prices were reasonable, great quality, and durability.

We usually hit Great Lakes Naval for the fireworks- about 1/4 mile off shore. Can see the works all up and down the shore from there. May try Waukegan this year, as their show looked real nice from the water. Just don't like how crowded it gets.
