So Saturday night we are rafted with 3 other boats to watch the fireworks on Middle River, Maryland.
One of my friend's cell phone rings and it's a call from a buddy of ours who is at our local pub.
Turns out Mike Rowe walked in to have a few chillys.
He grew up about 8 miles from my hometown and his mother has since moved into my neighborhood. He must be in town for the holiday.
I almost called off the fireworks to have a few beers with him but thought that would make me look a little unmanly.

I could have pretended to be Sig or maybe Phil.

That would have been cool... He is a family favorite between Deadliest Catch and Dirty Jobs. On his discovery website, it says that if you see him at a bar, and he is not engaged in a conversation, come on over and say hi and he will probably buy you a beer. Seems like a cool guy!

On TV he seems to come off as a Genuinely Great Guy. If he can hang out with the Crab fishermen, and they keep him around, he must be pretty cool.

That would be cool to meet him for sure.
On the "After The Catch Shows" this year they have been doing them from, I the place is called "Paddys", a bar on the East Coast.

I love the show and I tried to find the link on his website where you suggest a dirty job. I think a segment about one of the guys that run a pumpout boat would be cool. Anyone know how to make a suggestion on his site?

I love his shows. He does seem like a genuinely nice guy and his voice has a very captivating tone to it.

I love the show all those guys are ok in my book. I am not really into the new oil rigging one however.

I am addicted to all the Discovery shows. I even watch a little ice road truckers from time to time. Mike does seem like a down to earth guy. The dirty jobs where they dug for (sp) gewy ducks was the best.

Had the pleasure of singing in several pick-up barbershop quartets with Mike. He's a good guy and a great singer.

Deadliest Catch and Dirty Jobs are both addicting shows. Hope capt. Phil ends up ok.

I can't believe some of the weather that those guys work in! huge waves, ice flows, sheesh. I can't believe that any of the deckhands haven't been killed during the last 2 seasons. Especially with the decks caked in ice.
