Anyone going to the boat show this weekend? It looks like they have opened up more floor space so it will be larger than it usually is. My wife works downtown and sent me a picture of a big Sea Ray arriving Monday. Looked like probably a 40 or 42. Hall Marine usually has a real nice set up.

I promised myself I'd stay away, I'll see if I can do it.

After the Atlanta, and Charleston boat shows were flops (in my opinion) I don't know if I can take the disappointment. Plenty of center consoles, ski, and pontoon boats, but thoes boats don't interest me at all!

we plan to go Saturday afternoon......its always fun to look at things i can never afford to buy.....besides it is supposed to rain all WE so it will give us a good break from the rain.....probably will take the train just for the fun of it.....we are going to walk up to Flemings Steak House afterwards to celebrate my wife's birthday.....REALLY looking forward to that.....

Mike: I don't want to make any promises because I don't know what all they will have but Hall Marine usually does a pretty good job with setting up a nice mix of fiberglass boats. Normally Pier 77 has a good Regal display too. At least you won't have to drive far to get there.

This will be the reason I break the promise to myself.

Hall marine folks are straight up great people. I haven't been to the LKW dealership in quite a few years, but when I walked in the door, most still remembered my name. Blew me away. Haha

I work a few blocks from the convention center so I will go over tomorrow afternoon so I can avoid the weekend crowds. Not buying but its still fun to look.

Jason and I are going to try and meet up sometime Saturday afternoon at the show....if anyone else will be at the show then and wants to meet up with us send either one of us a PM with your cell phone number......

If someone goes today, let the rest of us know if they have more than just canbotes and fish/ski boats. I'd consider going Saturday to look at some cruisers but won't drive 90 miles to look at pontoon boats.

Went this afternoon. Hall Marine had the 260, 280, 310, 350 and 410. The 410 is sweet inside but I don't care for the exterior styling and the laydown seat on the cockpit port side.

The 280 and 310 were already sold so boarding was with a salesperson only. Regal had had a 280 and 350. Chapparal had a 310. Plenty of folks selling gutter guars systems and waverunners. I had fun.

Thanks Jim. After reading your post we went today. Had a decent time too. I didn't try to get in the 410 the line was long, but spent awhile talking with a salesperson in the 260. The Regal 280 was unimpressive compared to the SeaRays.

I agree about the Regals and also the Chapparels. The 310 Chapparel had a tiny dash with very small plotter installed low and to the left. Makes me wonder if the designer has ever driven a boat.

I was on a 35 foot Regal at the Hartford show. I know it's a very, very, very minor nit picky point, but I couldn't help to note that for a boat of this size, there was NO freezer, even a little one, within either the galley, or cockpit fridges. Come on Regal designers and builders, how is that you aren't aware that people with boats this size have a need to freeze food?

sounds like a good show....unfortnately we had to miss it.....let's just say sometimes it takes a little longer than expected for my loving bride to prepare herself before engaging the general public..........i was looking forward to the show too.......

and adding insult to injury we went to Flemings Steak House Saturday evening which is a high end restaurant near the boat show to celebrate my wife's birthday.....everything was going fine with a few beverages before dinner and pleasant conversation and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere Flemings offers....we both ordered a $65 special which was a 16 oz. strip steak smothered with crab meat....they were both ordered cooked 'medium' with a hot pink center....my wife's steak was perfect and she enjoyed it very much.....my steak came out well done....so i sent it back....they rushed to bring me another steak but it still took like 15 mins.....the replacement steak was rare and very 'chewy'......i could not eat it that way.....i did not bother to send the 2nd steak back since my wife was already well into eating hers.....i voiced my complaint to the waiter...they did remove my steak from the bill which was good but i just had a very bad experience that night....when you pay $200 - 300 for a special meal you expect to things to be perfect...unfortunately it did not work out for us that night....Flemings is an excellent steak house and we will go back....i guess even the best have off nights sometimes....we had to stop at Wendys on the way home for me to get a hamburger....i was starving....:smt009...
