A few nice yachts from our room view.

My opinion is Sea Ray followed the money. They didn't take into account the backs of which they walked upon to get the lofty status they have. It's a huge gamble Sea Ray took. I think they grossly underestimated its customer base, and are testing their loyalty to extreme limits.

My advise would be damage control quick! OR embrace and commit......it's going to be a long road.

You need to go buy a bigger boat and help them.

Really ,did they get Rob P. to come in? I would take that one.

We saw the 650 Fly today and it's pretty impressive considering it's R&D in progress. Lots of innovation. Cat C18's with ZF joystick control. What I really liked though was the 510 Fly. The layout was to our liking, even more than the 'Dancer version. Now if they would extend that hardtop forward a couple of feet and retract that windscreen,..... Good job Sea Ray!

Went back for a second look at the 650 yesterday. Could be the Jackie J VI? :)

We looked at a lot of boat it blurs the memory. Other than the 650, high on the list would be Marquis, Astandoa (which I'd never even heard of before), Mauritimo, Fairline, Sunseeker Manhattan. The 650 is priced up there, just not sure it has the same fit and finish as some of the similarly priced comps.

I'm in the minority here but we really like the "new" 510 fly, L650 guess that's why I like Fairlane, Marquis also? The Euro styling.

Great seeing you Rusty. I watched how well you could explain the vessels to prospective customers. You really have Sea Ray in your heart.... I wanted to stick around. But, I needed to get back because I realize I need to get her down to Miami! Not just hang out for a night....I'll be moving south again.

The boats looked great! Loved seeing the 510 Fly and the 580 Dancer. It was really nice to see the 650 finished. I think she's a great yacht. Styling, design, and fit and finish.... Sure there were a few little things I could nit pick about but I imagine those will get sorted over time, or if I was buying her I would just take care of myself. She is going to dazzle some marinas when she gets out there!

Thanks for stopping by to see me Doc......you too Brian, great thrill for me, big time. Boatguy too bro!!!

I feel the same way. If they had a better dealer network in the US I think Fairline would be a great option. Of all of the European manufacturers I think they make one of the best boats.

SeaRay is going after a more international market and trying to appeal to younger buyers in the US. I personally like their new models. At the Ft Lauderdale show I was told the 540 and 580 are about to get a reboot for 2015. It will be interesting to see what they do.

My 3 days of The Miami Boat Show was fanfreakintastic!

Sea Ray on Collins Ave. was very warm and friendly.
We were greeted in line by one of the pretty reception girls.
After finding out I owned a SR she said "come with me you don't need to wait in line".
The rest of my group are not (yet) SR boat owners. No special treatment was evident at their respective displays.....?
For example one friend is on his third Formula (36', 41', and brand new 40'IPS) and none of the Porter family gave him the time of day.....sad.
At SR's display on Collins my friends wife said "Huh, VIP treatment over here".

The 51Fly was my pick but, WOW the L65 is some boat!!
L65 is soo much more of a Yacht, than any other Sea Ray. I see the obvious need to create a new model line. This is no Fly or Sedan Bridge.
I like the direction the company is headed and expect to support the brand a longtime.

Finally met Capt. Rusty and enjoyed chatting with him for a while.
Over all very well done SeaRay!!!

Other highlights of the show were spending an hour on the 80' Marlow yacht going through the nooks and crannys of it. The company rep knew that I'm not a player for that market but, really wanted to show it off...

And, its always nice staying on South Beach, good food and great drinks with friends.
Miami 2014 is a wrap!

I'd like to thank Matt for setting us up with a pair of tickets. I was on call, and as fate would have it, got assigned a trip to Miami. Our hotel was on Collines Ave, none-the-less!

Here are a few of my favorites:

The Boston Whaler 230, exactly what I'm looking for on my next boat!

I was told this was the first production Hatteras, a 41' Sportfish

Check out the size of the Volvo IPS drive! For perspective, I'm 6'5!

I can highly recommend the Cadillac Courtyard Marriott on the beach.
Used to stay at the Cardoza down on the strip but, this is much better for me.

Oh, and free parking on Collins (for some).

That 70' Monte Carlo in the background is the nicest boat I've seen in a while. It's in another league compared to the Sea Ray, but also much more expensive, I've heard its price is 4 mill.
