Mercruser DTS with 350 Mag?

I am looking at a 09 with the DTS and a 350. I have always had cable shift we will use the boat in Orange Beach and do not know much about the DTS. How problemmatic is it if at all?

Dock mate has the DTS with AXIUM joystick.. Axium has broken down on him twice and is now being completely replaced (electronics, not the mechanicals). Seems the system loses the interface to the joystick. OTOH, the DTS is a just a joy to use and he's had no problem with it. Others with the DTS on our dock also say it is a 'go' and without any problems. It is somewhat new technology; I think it's only been out there on Searay products since '07/'08... but seems pretty reliable from the many boats now having it.

DTS is a Dream!!! I also had some issues with the Axius system, but it was all solved with a Software Download and Update! Axius came out with my year Boat and they had alot of "Tweaking" to do in the Programming. If your boat has the Axius make sure it's the most Recent Software and if it isn't have Mercury come down and do a "White Glove Reset" it's free and the dealer will set it up for you! If you don't have Axius then I guess this is Moot!
