Have a 260 Mercruiser with a Bravo 2. The raw water pump is driven with the single serpentine belt which also drives all the other accessories. It spit the belt last weekend while returning from a long cruise with the boat heavily loaded. The first thing to tip me off was the loss of power steering. Before I could safely take it off step and shut it down the eng temp took off and it blew coolant out of the exchanger. Believe it was caught in time but only by a little luck. There is limited room between the crankshaft and bulkhead so a crank driven pump is out for me as an option.
Have heard of guys talking about raw water pressure alarms. Have not been very successful in finding information on where to install them in the system or the size/style of sensor required to do so. Does anyone with a similar Bravo set up have information on this? Is it more of a positive flow type sensor I am looking for so it is not triggered at low rpm's?
