Hello Everyone:
I am new to the forum and looking for a good reliable service shop in the Sacramento, CA area to service my 230 Weekender. Any suggestions or referrals would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks
Del

I have been using Cal's Marine in Loomis for years, they will not cut corners so if you want to save money do what work you feel comfortable doing yourself and let them do the rest. They are very good and they stand behind there work.

Now is a good time to call them, I believe they still run a winter discount and they will get busy when the sun comes out.

I was given the name & number for Jason Felix. He worked for Marine Max in Oakland and now is on his own. I did ask about him traveling up to the delta and had positive feedback. I have not called yet but plan on calling soon for a little help. (510-314-7641)

I dropped off my boat at River City Boat Works in West Sac last Friday for a 100 hr service and a couple other little things. One of the multi-decade repairmen from Marine max is working there, they do work at their shop or at your dock. Price was very competitive with their Spring Special. Answers emails and phones very quickly. Boat is supposed to be ready this Wednesday. Will give ya'll a report.

Aloha everyone! Ken or anyone else on here - Have you contacted Jason Felix or have him do any work for you yet?

I contacted him last week and will be calling him again today to schedule. His rate is $85 per hour...

They did the work and did a good job. Said the spark plugs were fine and should get a couple more years on them. Didn't jack me up = good! Took an extra day but that was fine as my 2004 Ford 6.0 blew a head gasket and I didn't have a TV to pick up the boat. Kept the boat inside for a couple extra days.

100 hr Service $269 plus some parts
New impeller and housing $250
replaced a trim tab cylinder about $130
add a couple other little repairs $806 out the door.

Another shop quoted $750 just for the 100 hr and Impeller job.

Happy and will go back!

So, Jason Felix is coming on Thursday to replace my impellars on both engines and the genny, fuel filters, serpentine belts and stuff like that. I'll report on how it worked out after next weekend.

So, how did the repair work go with Jason?

The rains threw his schedule off last week. He may be there today...not sure. I'll let you know though!

Jason did a great job! It took him (including one way travel) 5 1/2 hours and he replaced both impellers and serpentine belts as well as the genny impeller oil change and filter. Also the engine fuel filters. Total bill was about $850.

I highly recommend his services. My back loves him...

I spoke with Jason and he recommended Brian Tibbs also formerly of Marine Max. Brian is out on his own now and seems very knowledgeable, he is working on my boat now in Sacramento. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Let us know and provide contact info!

Brian Tibbs did an excellent job on my repairs. He is quick to return telephone messages and prompt with appointments. He charges an hourly rate but will provide a written estimate. What impressed me was that he stuck to the estimate even though he was clearly with the boat beyond the hourly rate fee.
I highly recommend Brian, he is out of the Sacramento area and can be reached at 916-295-8839.

Good to know! You don't do stainless steel rail work do you?

Just leaving 'props' for Brian Tibbs (BT Marine) here. Yesterday, I had him do a 3 year service sans impeller, spark plugs, cap & rotor. He said the last 3 weren't necessary this time around. Great communication, on-time appointment, honest, cost less than quoted, took less time than quoted and he traveled all the way down to Tracy to work on my boat in the driveway. Good guy. I left him a review on Yelp as well. Which, should be up in a couple days since I had to create a review for a 'new' business. I recommend him.
