Mercruiser 7.4 MPI Engine alarm

SOOOOO...... swapped knock sensors - problem remained on same engine and all connections/wiring is in good order.

I turned her over the the shop. I'm at a loss.

Dale, take a good look at the wire coming off the sensor itself. When I repaired my friend's sensor, the insulation pulled back a little revealed a few strands of wire connected to the actual clip. Clearly the wire had corroded away and there wasn't enough wire to make the needed connection. Good Luck:thumbsup:

I'll take another look. When I had both sensors off the insulation was up to the sensor and almost molded in. I'll cut it back and see.

Yeah, just cut back or pull back the insulation and you can always wrap it with some electrical tape.

From what I've read and seen it's not the actual sensor, it's the wire coming off of the clip that attaches to the sensor.

OK. And to confirm - they will cause the soft alarm (2beep, 1min pause) right?
