Mercruiser 7.4 454 CI loss of oil pressure

I admit the blowing the generator is a rookie move; I have no problem slow cruising for a few months. PlayDate makes sense; I am looking for two already rebuilt engines and will buy them, store them until I get a spot at the boatyard, and get on the hard. I'll get a small portable generator, for now, to keep things power while overnighting. I've talked to boaters in the marina that were here when the other owner was here, and they said he was out on it all the time. In 2015 he put two rebuilt aftermarket motors in and had used the boat almost every weekend. In 2019 he slowed way down but still took it out a few times. When I bought it, the oil looked like it hadn’t been changed in a few years, heavy soot on top of both filters. I am hoping that slow cruising and monthly engine flushing/ oil changes might clean the motor. I’ll probably use the starboard engine more once out of the marina. Thanks for all the advice; I will keep posting results of what is transpiring; maybe it will help someone else with similar issues.

PS not that I would like to spend 7900 on a engine for a boat I paid 9k for. Most likely I would part it out and scrap the rest at this point. Or just park it in the slip and drink on it like most the peeps at my marina do. I swear 80% of boats in my marina never left slip all summer. 95% on my pier.

Then there the couple has 2 lil kids, a cat, dog, 2 sedan bridges live aboard next to each other. Mom and dad boats. They ain’t moved boats in years. I can’t imagine the barnacles. Nice folks, the cockpit is full of nice plants. You think I kidding?

Where do you live? 14k? I can get a Jasper for 4900, and no way is it 10k to install, more like 3k tops around here.
Especially if its accessible while the motors are pulled. Good time to handle that too, well, except for the expense part.....

One yacht club we stay at some times as a transient, has a policy members must leave their slip under their own power twice a year for 48 hours or the slip will be assigned to others. Yacht club manager said it opened up some slips form active members.

Update, I took the boat out this weekend and the port engine ran fine up until 2100 rpms and then the oil pressure would drop. The bow would start rising at that rpms so I’m assuming the oil in the pan was moving back as well. Other than that the engine ran strong with not noises or smoke. The boat is coming out in late February and a new oil pump is being put it.

Would be smart to have a plan B if the oil pump specs out fine.
The plan B is in the back of my head, I’m hoping if I don’t have those thoughts it won’t be the problem and I won’t need plan B. All kidding aside, I’m planning on putting two rebuilt engines in this summer. Just haven’t found a reasonably company who sells Mercruiser 454 yet.

How would you enforce this mandate?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Slip Queens.....................Kirk Out

Private clubs have their own bylaws I have a similar rule in my Yacht club,it’s there for the extreme cases

The club has 2 full time staff that walk all dock in the morning. They also have a security guard at night. They catch non used boats.

Thought they were fresh in 2015? What's the issue with the other engine?
