Has anyone ever used this product in a Diesel engine.(power tune,Its for fogging and removeing carbon build up)

I have an 04 6.0 powerstroke engine in anF350 , it has 150,000 miles. The EGR valve is acting up causeing stalls, and hesitation. Ford wants to replace the valve and a sensor, possibly remove the intake manifold, for more cleaning.
I use this truck everyday, don't want to stop it right now. Ive used this product in 2cycle gas engines, as well as throttle bodys on gas engines, but never on a Diesel. If you've used it, or have an openion on useing this product in this engine, lets here you'r results, or thoughts.
Thanks Nicky

P.S. I know this is a boating forum, not a truck forum. But I'll put this group up against any other site on the Web.

Not a diesel guy, so take my $.02 with a grain of salt. I am a power and performance guy though...and might accidentally head you in the right direction.

EGR valves are designed to allow a small amout of exhaust gas back into the combustion cycle to cool the exhaust temperatures. They operate on a negative pressure (vacuum) signal. Sometimes, they simply wear out. Take a hand held vacuum generator and put some vacuum to the small hose on top of the EGR valve. Be sure it goes up and down with vacuum (sometimes they get stuck). Then, take a small tank of propane with a little hose on the nozzle end...with the engine running, allow a little propane gas to float out over the EGR valve. If engine revs increase noticeably around the valve...probably a broken seal in the EGR valve. They use to be about $100...no idea what the cost these days.

As to the additive, while I guess its possible, it would take an extraordinary set of fortuitous circumstances for a can of carbon reducer to have any significant effect.

I had an 04 F250 6.0 prior to my current truck and it did foul up/foul out the EGR valve quite regularly. Cleaning it out worked just as well as replacing it. I don't know if there is a product that will clean it. It would be great if there was. My current truck, '08 F250 6.4 liter diesel has had no problems with that. It's turbo(s) get dirty and make a funny noise that does not affect performance.

Thanks for the replys, I'm going to remove the egr valve as well as the sensor that is located on the front left of the intake, and clean the both. Hopefully this will help. I'll post the results when I'm done. If anybody's had experence with this engine, please post what you found as well as the remedy (sp). I think the 6.0 is a good engine, just hard to understand.
