Hi everyone, I just picked up a '72 SRV 220 over the weekend. Right now the drive is stuck in reverse and the shift cable is broken, but I suspect that I will need to repower and the boat was priced accordingly (basically paid for the trailer).

My question is what is the best repower option? I know I can pick up a reman long block here in Fla for about $1300 and a drive for about the same. But I've been able to locate a couple of boats that have bad transoms with good power for significantly less money. Is it possible to drop in a Merc 305 or 350 without reworking the motor mounts? I know that if I find a Apha I Gen 1 the gimbal housing will fit with no modifications, but I have searched for two days and cannot find any info on the motor mounts.

Thanks
