I recently purchased a 2002 310 Sundancer. The day before I took delivery I paid to have the engines surveyed. When we took the boat out with the delivery captain we noticed something wasn't right. We took it back to the well and found out the tech doing the engine survey crossed spark plug wires 1 and 3 on the port engine. That was fixed and we were fine.

Now I am having a problem with the starboard engine. I start it, put it up to about 1300 RPM's until the temp gets to about 165 degrees, and when I put the thottle stick back down to idle, the engine stalls. It starts back up again no problem. But this continues to happen until the motor has thoroughly warmed up.

Do the the 350 EFI Mag's have an electric choke? I am wondering if the tech that did the survey kicked a wire loose or something.

Any help would be appreciated.

With the EFI on your engine you do not have any kind of choke. You do however have sensors - one being the Idle Air Control valve which may be sticking. The IAC allows additional air into the intake at idle to prevent the type of situation you are encountering. On the RPM note - I let mine warm up at idle RPMs only - not sure I'd immediately take mine up to 1300 or more without them actually being warmed up first.

IAC - good place to start - how about neutral safety switch? The MPI's still use that, right?

Guys, I wouldn't be too concerned about letting it warm up. Start it, make sure you've got oil pressure, put it in gear and go. All you're doing by letting it warm up is wasting fuel. If you do feel the need to warm it up, it's best to bump the rpm's a bit. 1,000 should be enough for that. You'll get better oil flow.
