No one was seriously hurt, but i can say with the utmost confidence that this is the safest place for this boat. I'm amazed but i couldnt find any articles on this situation in the local papers and websites today. Can any of you sharp NJ boaters pinpoint where this is??

Geez - they must have been haulin' to get that far up on shore! Did you take those pics? Any more to the story?

The good news is that he only hit the 'Earth'....and not another boater.

there's lot more to this story but i'm not sure i should bring it up. just thought the pix would be of interest to all. i didnt take the pix but a friend took them on labor day (monday). this happened in the wee small hours of sunday morning. btw, the boat is a good 20' into the grass and there is no significant tide in this area (maybe a foot if that).

looks like it is north of the Mantlokin Bridge.

Correction South of the bridge on the west side if heading North.

Who Photoshopped the images? It's not a good job. More importantly, why were they altered?

Best regards,
Frank

correct call on location and boat make/model. frank, not sure if you're being facetious, but these are NOT altered photos. it happened and is very real.

How many drinks were in that skipper? Ok, fess up the rest of the story.

I remember when I was 16-18 or so... yeah, it was a while ago... I was swimming off a beach in Isle La Motte at St. Anne's Shrine, and a boat about that size and shape came into shore at a fairly good clip from the New York side of the lake... drove right up onto the shore in a similar manner not 100' from me. (Engine was still running at a fairly good setting) The Rescue squad was called (no 911 way back in those days) and folks on the beach ran on board to see what was up, shut down the motor, (or it died, I don't remember which at this point) and went below, and found the owner passed out below drunk. I don't remember how they got that boat offshore, but it must have done major damage to the bottom, since where it landed was rocky.

Luckily, the captain only had a major cut on his head, and no one else swimiming or boating was hurt.

You mean he was knocked out by the accident and then downed some whiskey after he awoke to relieve the pain while awaiting medical attention.

Yeah, right, something like that.

holy crud. And I was under the impression that the water in front of that spit of land was not deep enough for that boat. . . .kind of like running a jet ski onto one of those plastic jetport things, ehh?

This situation reminds me of the fataility that occured North of the Bridge a few weeks ago. At least in this case, there were no fatalities and it didn't happen in a "no-wake" zone. Still gives the rest of us responsible late night boaters a bad name.
