Memorial Day Weekend 2023

Went on a pontoon/ happy hour cruise yesterday afternoon. Headed to my friend’s celebration of life today. He passed away unexpectedly. That’s two close friends in less than a year.

Old neighborhood friends coming over tomorrow for some fun on the lake. I smoked 17lbs of pork shoulder for carnitas. Maybe watch some racing.

Memorial Day, never forget. Thank you to those who served.

Ventured to the next river over. Brewers Landing. First time here, nice place, cheap food prices. Opens 10am, I like that.
Our chariot out on the pier.

We got out early, had river cruise to ourselves. Got to tiki bar. Few beers, will be back home before the crazies come out. This is our style.

Boat and pretty much everything else takes a back seat to watching the races today. I did get the lawn mowed after Monaco. Fixing to watch the 500 now. If the 600 gets delayed today, I might run down to the boat and putz around for a while. Tomorrow I'll be on the boat for sure

Thank you to all our Service Members and those who serve!

Unfortunately, my wifes 92 year old father has been in declining health this past year. Had a major heart issue last week, and finally a stroke on Friday. He passed opeacefully a little after midnight last night, so nobody really in the mood to go to the boat. Funeral likely this week, and once this storm cloud pases, there will be plenty of summer for the lake and boat.

Sorry for your loss, RIP

Took a nice bike ride this morning along the waterfront to see all of the new construction of the taxpayer funded “green space improvements” it’s nice, The Buffalo waterfront is really improving the old brownfield sites.
The launch ramp here at our marina has been a zoo all day. They’ll all be coming back just before sunset….should be a hoot.

Happy Memorial Day. I was drafted in 1972 but was 4F. Severe allergies that kept me out of high school football kept me out of Vietnam. Spent a day at Fort Wayne in my skivvies. Thought I was going until about 4 pm and they called me up and told me to get dressed and gave me a bus ride back home.

So all the race cancelations Saturday and Sunday will keep me home today. That's OK, great weather all week so we'll spend time on it during the next few days.

Thanks to all the vets here. My father was a Marine DI during Korea, but the military wasn't my thing.

Full weekend here so far with beautiful weather for my wife's __th birthday. This Included a surprise visit from her brother from Cape Cod.

Grilled at the dock and will do so again with all the usual suspects and hung out with new friend, marina neighbor and CSR member Flyer5.

Got my port side neighbor's AC working after mud wasps had a party in the plumbing, but am not wrenching any more this weekend unless it's a crisis.

The lake was like a swarm yesterday and will be worse today so I'll hang here but am planning a shakedown tomorrow with some visiting friends from Long Island.

So far its been a great weekend and the weather is supposed to hold all next week.

Great day yesterday, Orioles got it 3 to 2. Was nice, not only the national anthem but they also stopped mid game to play God Bless America to remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Strange weekend doing something like this, it's usually spent doing more boating centric things. The Coke a Cola 600 got rain delayed so will catch that later today.

I hope everyone's weekend was fun filled but also had a chance to remember the fallen on this solemn weekend. Thanks to all of the veterans on this day and every day.

Well, I was supposed to launch on the 26th but I spent most my day on the 24th in the emergency room and been laying around in my underwear in bed since...boat launch rescheduled for 6/2, there's a good chance it'll happen this time.
