A lot of other forums have names as your number of posts increase. Currently here, you are only a member until you reach 200 posts and you become an admiral. I think it would be fun to have more of a heirarchy of names. Something like milestones for 25, 50, 100, 200 and so on.

I used to have fun names but they didn't please everybody so I got rid of them. I am finding as this site gets more traffic that it is hard to please everybody. Lots of critics lately. I still think names for post counts is fun and I am open to reinstate them. Just need to come up with some names that everybody likes. If you can do that I'd be happy to use them.

Rear Admiral (lower half) - 1000

I agree. We have to haze the new members somehow! :grin: I'd like to probably have more in between anyway.

Whatever makes y'all happy suits me, but whatever you decide should operate by post count or some other automatic method so making a change does not require manual input by a moderator or administrator.

I also think you should add categories for "Guests" who are just visiting or maybe shopping for a Sea Ray.

And, we should differentiate between members who are Sea Ray owners and those who own other brands. This isn't a class thing for me, but I do think it is meaningful for regular members who ask questions to be able to tell whose answering them and whether they are getting generic answers or brand specific answers. If you have a problem with your wiring, plumbing, dealer, warranty coverage, etc, do you care how Tiara or Cruisers does it? Isn't it more meaningful for you to know if the answer comes from someone with current experience on your model boat?

I certainly do not wish to limit participation, only to make the form work as well as it can and to provide timely and accurate information to those needing it.

you should also have contributer tags.. people who pay like 5 bucks a year or whatever to contribute to the running of the forum or whatever.. they will get a blue highlited name on the "online list" and have a contributer tag under their name.. most forums do this.. just an idea!
