Meguiars Flagship vs. 3M Scotchguard Marine Wax

I used the Leverage Polish over the weekend and here is my opinion.
Positive-
1. The product is very easy to apply with a terry cloth towel, in the large areas I just sprayed it on and hand buffed.
2. The product was very easy to remove with a terry cloth towel, I just wiped it away.
3. It had excellent (EXCELLENT) shine and was very smooth to the touch.
4. It easily removed water spots.
5. It worked well on railings etc.
6. I had no left over residue on the non-skid surfaces.

Negative-
1. The product did not remove marks or glue residue at all.
2. It really had no grit or buffing power to it at all.
3. It was difficult to tell where I had applied it because the haze was so light.

The finished product was overall a positive as the boat was very shiney and new looking. I will have to wait until next year to see how well it holds up during use.:smt038

all-
I used yachbrite pro polish this summer and it held up well. After pull-out I waxed with Meguiars and the shine, (by hand) was significantly better than Yachbrite. Will have to see how well it holds up to water spots etc.

I'm using the shurhold pro polish as recommended by sea ray on my '08 340 DA. Previously I always used 3m products but so far so good. As anyone had longer experience with the pro polish.

I noticed some degree of yellowing of the white gel coat w/ Flagship on my first hull. I switched to Yachtbrite and so far haven't noticed yellowing onthe new hull.

I use meguiars #50 cleaner wax, then starbrite teflon, followed by interlux wax sealer every spring. Never had black streaks or anything that cant be wiped off with your hand and water. Only have to do it once every 5 months. It is a long spring process but well worth the time. I hand apply and take off all three coats.

Mequires........ also a good Carnuba... Had mine done in April of last year.Washed it twice up to November..Unbelievable...Prestiege Detailing...Baltimore:thumbsup:

Kaykook
Pledge for the fiberglass.
I use it on my isenglass. Wash with boat soap, rinse well, dry with a micro towel and then spray with pledge and wipe off with another micro towel. Works great and been doing it this way when pledge didn't have the lemon in it that it does now... guess that is about 20-25 years?

I use 3M and have used Flagship. Either one is fine. In fact have both and which ever one is most handy and in reach is the one I will use. But I use a machine to apply it and then use a teflon wet look spray shine on top of that...

I use rainX on the windshield and other glass after cleaning with Bar Keepers cleanser. Guess I'm old school...

Don't you have to be very careful with the rainX around the fiberglass and eisenglass?

I have used the Yachtbrite products (buff magic, pro polish, serious shine) for four years and always have great results. Two coats pro polish on the lower 1/2 in the Spring lasts the entire season and water spots come off easily from the hard water of the Mississippi. Buff magic does a nice job in removing chalking that may occur.
