Mecum - Kissimmee

I know the feeling. I figure own my old Corvette turned out to cost me about two thousand dollars a ride with insurance, maintenance and storage figured in. While I enjoyed driving it, I just did not drive it enough to justify the cost of ownership. My son now owns it and drives it. Has about 30,000 miles on it now. I drove it a while back and was surprised how uncomfortable it is for an old guy and also how slow it is compared to modern sports cars. It still looks great and he has done a good job of keeping it original and safe. View attachment 118528
Yep, new stuff is so fast now. My Powerboost F150 in sport mode would probably give my old 1970 Chevelle SS454 a close race now.

Prices are getting up there for sure. Older C-5 Vett's can still be had for a deal. The top end cars just continue to rise in price.

I think part of the reason my son wanted this car was the fact that he could never drive it as a teenager. He had memories of his mother picking him up from school with his little brother in it along with a 90 pound Chow Chow in the back window area. In poker that is known as a “full house”!

I watched a Mach 1 run out of gas in front of me today. The only car where I could see the gas gauge move as you drove it.
You never had a 454 Corvette - it would pass anything but a gas station!

Even the small blocks had limited range. My Silver Anniversary would only go about 170 miles on a tank of gas if memory serves.

I’m amazed at the changes - esp at GM - my XLR gets 28 on mixed (easy) driving - same with the new corvettes. Not a fan of DoD and AFM though.

I'm a Chevy II man thru and thru. I have 4. 1966 Akers 1.jpg 1966 Akers 2.jpg 1966 Akers 3.jpg

Ur silver anniversary model would not pass anything. Notoriously under powered as all cars was in that era . Now folks that own one is having in restro mod for performance.
My 2019 model is only a second off of several hundred thousand dollar cars. I might add if that if the car is a standard my auto may be more than he bargained for.
