MDR Inflatable Topcoat

No but,
I did just buy a similar product at the Defender sale.
"TUFF COAT" I think is the brand.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
The plan is to use it on the top sides of my dink.
Will report back in a few weeks when I have time to paint.

My last dink was painted after it was tired and old looking.
I used a spray can vinyl type that was on the shelf at West Marine. Don't think it made any more.
The paint did its job and the dink was used for a few more years until the internal seams gave out.
Good luck,

Well I have started the process and was hoping for some suggestions with the brush marks. I have used a roller, sponge, and paintbrush and am working my butt off to make the surface look smooth. It isn't as easy as I thought but will continue to figure it out and let you know.

Well I finally finished re-surfacing our dinghy and it came out awesome! The paint is a bit tricky to work with as it leaves brush marks, but I figured out that if you brush vertically then lightly brush horizontal the finish is perfect. I used very little paint for each layer so I didn't have too much paint buildup. It looks almost new! I used just about 1 jar of MDR topcoat for a 11.5' RIB.

I will try to get a better image but this is the "New" dinghy. This is my first photo posting so sorry for the tardiness. The only problem with the painting of the hypalon is that we haul our dinghy up with a crane and the lines made an abrasion in the paint (urggh!) but we will place a patch over that so as not to wear away the material. More photos later............

I bought 2 quarts to redo a Sea-Doo Explorer sport boat tube. It was their first stab at a RIB, back in 94. Let's say I bought dirty, but it came much cleaner than I originally thought it would. So far I have used the MDR liquid vinyl to paint a stripe on the Hypalon tube where the rub rail used to be. This will do until I find a rub rail that is long enough. Most are 23', and I will need about 28' for this inflatable. I also used the paint to fill some tears in the seating from sun damage. Now, I am covering them with automotive vinyl spray paint until I can get some new skins. However, the way they are shaping up, I might put that off for a while. I tried over and over to get with the Tuff 2 part guys, but they didn't return phone calls, or emails. Guess they don't need the business. Whatever. This paint is 17 dollars a quart instead of 250. Rodger the comment about brush strokes in the finish, and I found the same thing. Brush it on one way, and then feather it the other to eliminate the lines. Also, use throw away brushes. Reused ones, always have little balls of dried vinyl in them the next use, which get in your new coat.
The last pic is of one in Key West that was redone. Kind of my goal for this one. We used these RIBs as tenders all over the Bahamas for years. Great little scooter that can actually work as a boat for 4 adults when needed.
I have an overwhelming desire to paint a smile on the front of the steering post.......
