With the permission of his family, It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we let you know that our dear friend Dominic (aka OSD9 here on CSR) passed away suddenly on Monday, September 10[SUP]th[/SUP], 2012 at the age of 56. Dominic had an occult brain aneurysm that ruptured on Sunday during a bike ride. He was MedEvac'd to a hospital in North Jersey and despite the best efforts of the doctors and staff, he never regained consciousness. He was placed on a respirator, which kept him alive, though his brain activity had ceased. At Dom’s previous request, and after consulting with his doctors, his family made the decision we all hope to never have to make and he passed around 2pm. .

Dominic was a very special man - a "shirt off your back" type guy. Whatever you needed, whenever you needed it, there he was. Anyone who knew him will tell you that. Ask the perfect strangers that he opened his home (affectionately known as Dom's Marina) to. You will be hard pressed to find a sharper more analytic mind, a quicker wit or a guy who could take it as well as he dished it out! Dom was a good man who always looked out for his family. He had a lust for life - from his love of SCUBA diving to his appointment for skydiving that he won't be able to keep this weekend.

And of course, there was his Searay. This was a guy who owned a couple of 330DAs, a 380DA and of course the well chronicled 410DA (or was it actually a 380DA?!) One Sweet Day 9.

Many of us met on this forum or its predecessor. Dom was a frequent contributor to both - Dom's Dingy Davits, the story of the purchase of the 410, the Aetna Tachs, the Atlantic City trips (always the first one to get pictures up!), the list goes on. I am not one to wear my heart on my sleeve for thousands to see, and you can be sure Dom wouldn't want a big deal made of this, but since our friendship was spawned by the forums, it seemed fitting to get word out to those who might be interested.

I will miss Dom very much. I feel very fortunate to have known him and be able to call him my friend. I was able to get up to see him at he hospital and I was told by that point that he didn't know he was alive ... but I think otherwise. Now, when I think of him, I smile and I cry. Eventually the crying will stop but the smile will remain, forever.

Dom was a good man, a good friend to many, a very knowledgeable boater, frequent contributor to CSR and could certainly be the life of the party. I am proud to have been able to call him my friend.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

I think Dom made it…

Rest In Peace, husband, father and friend.

I met Dom at the first (2007?) Baltimore CSR get-together, he made the trip with several other NJ boats. His 410 was pristine, and who could forget the giant CAT flag he had?

What a great guy. I wish we could have made the NYC trip this year to see him again.

Rest in peace brother. Tonight I'll drink Scotch in your memory. You magnificent snobby bastard you.

Very sorry to hear this, I met Dom back in Oct 2006 when I went to his office to meet him and pick up his old props from his 330 I bought from him. I had the conversation with him that the old SRO site was gone and he was the one that told me everyone moved here... RIP

Ron, and others...

I have never personally met Dominic. I read his posts and his antics here. What a sad loss of a great human being. Take everyday as they come and remember the lost. Live for tomorrow because you never know when your number is up. The deepest thoughts and prayers for his family and friends...

Rest in peace Dominic!

I am so sorry to hear this. I only knew Dom through his posts here but I enjoyed his posts and sarcastic wit. He seemed to be the kind of guy you could throw a few back with while exchanging stories until the wee hours of the night. I am sorry for his loss and my condolences go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace Dom.

This is just awful news... We just lost a great Sea Ray boater and friend. Dom would do anything for his friends and is so sad to see him go that words can't describe it.

Those of you that don't recall, Dom put together the first CSR Rendezvous in Baltimore many years ago and really was a big part of these things as they grew. He was the one who always said "I'm not bringing the Lobster this year" which became the running joke and Sea Ray actually pitched in and finally "brought the Lobster" this year in our get together in NY.

He will be missed greatly... Frankly I'm in shock over this since hearing about it last night... Just doesn't seem fair or right...

Here's Dom messing up the electronics on my bridge a few years ago:

I also never met this man but found a deep respect for him just by reading his posts.

This community and the boating world in general has just lost a great guy. What a bummer.

My condolences to the family. To the rest of us, it's all the more reason to burn some fuel along the way just as he did!!

I have only known Dom for about 6 years. Like most of you we met online on the Sea Ray Owners website but our friendship started the day I traded in my 410 Sundancer that Dom bought soon after. We wrote and talked while he negotiated to buy the boat from Marine Max. I coached him on all the little things that needed attention before he took delivery and I think he was able to get a good deal with this little bit of inside information.

During those talks, I came to know, admire and like Dom and, although we did not spend much time together, I consider him to be my friend. Dom's life was not always easy, but he certainly found enjoyment in his many activities and found love and happiness with his dear Linda.

Dom, you will be forever in our hearts.

I think we can all agree that we all feel the loss as this is a brotherhood and although I never personally met him, I felt like I knew him though his posts.....rest in peace Dom.......

I met Dom back in 2009 just after I bought my 320. He graciously offered to have me and my family stay over at "Dom's Marina" the night before the 2009 Atlantic City Rendezvous. Mike(Turtletone) and I took him up on his offer and he was wonderful host. We had a wonderful night and enjoyed meeting his family and neighbors. He will be missed.

You left your helm way too soon Dominick. My prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for all of your contributions while you were with us.

Like others, I never personally met Dom but considered him a friend as he helped me immensely through various forums and emails. He was always eager to offer up his knowledge and chronicled his repairs and upgrades for everyone to learn from. He also had a great sense of humor. I know he was a close friend to a few of you guys here and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Dom - One Sweet Day out.

RIP DOM. I never met you, but a soul like your is a hard one to find based on those who wrote before me. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. May you now enjoy the helm in heaven-
Peace.

We all lost a friend here on CSR and my condolences to his family and to those who knew him personally. So tragic to lose someone so young. RIP, Dom.

Dom and I had exchanged emails a few times in the past, and I really enjoyed talking with him. We finally met at the Liberty Landing rendezvous this year, and some great times together. We toured each others boats, talked boats, gave Rusty a hard time, and insulted Gary when the Cat vs. Cummins arguments flared up. The usual CSR boat stuff, I would say.

I found him to be the genuine article, and I miss him. This is dreadful news to read. I can't type right now. Dom, my friend, may fair skies and calm seas be ever at your back.

Dale

Rest in peace Dom and God bless your family and loved ones.
