2001 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer, Work in progress, sitting for 6 years
Engines
Mercruiser 6.2mpi with duo prop
Good day to all, Newbie to the Sea Ray market but have always had a boat. Just purchased a 2001 260 Sundancer that ha been sitting for about 6 years. I'm sure i will be asking a ton of questions over the next few weeks.  Boat has spent all of its life in Texas and local Marina in Decatur Al. took boat in on trade and decided it was too rough to fix. That is where i come along, after trip to TN to buy tandem trailer then a trip to GA to buy a Triple axle trailer i have started the daunting task of working on it trying to get back running and cleaned up. I am really looking for some fairly close (north Alabama or Chattanooga area) Searay members that may have a 260 or similar model as to show me the basics, (holding tank draining, what the other tanks are for, pump operations, Generator operation) We are looking forward of spending many nights on the Tn river and possibly some ICW travels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

Welcome, if there is anything I can help with from this distance I will be happy to help.
first thing you may want to do is go onto the SeaRay site and download the manuals they have there for you boat.

And hopefully we can see some before-after footage.

It's not a Sea Ray but I am deep ($$$) in the process of bringing a 1985 23' Cobalt back from the dead. I'll be happy to help any way I can. Doing a project like this is kind of a voyage of discovery. Every time you think you are making progress something else comes along to bite you in the ass.

Be patient and don't go cheap on restoring safety items. You don't want to jeopardize your family over a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks guys for the great information and encouragement. I have a few before pics on FB but have not yet figured out how to post them on here. I have been trying to get the manuals from Searay but was giving me an error message. I will try again in the coming days. Thanks Mr. Bennett i believe it would be well worth the trip to north GA. being the same model boat and all. Would like to see the boat properly on the trailer as i am having issues getting weight evenly across trailer also discuss pulling with the duramax, it looks like my V10 F250 may not be up to the job. Thanks again to all.

When I bought my boat, the trailer was not properly fitted to the boat. With help from the guys here and my own knowledge, she is zeroed and doing great. Shoot me a PM and we can talk/set something up.

Bennett

Welcome aboard.

My 2006 GMC Yukon Denali pulls my 260 across mountains back and forth from TN to SC on a tandem trailer. No problem. I think proper set up is everything.

Greetings. I have owned a 1987 SR Amberjack 270 for 10 years and now am in the process of repower and some restoration. Located south of the lake on Sand Mountain. Happy to try and help you with any questions about your boat. Grew up on G'ville Lake - now retired - Admiral and I hope to do the TN-TOM and possibly the "LOOP" if circumstances allow. :)
