Hello All, We launched our "new to us"320 DA Friday Nov. 1, Spent the weekend moving items into and over from our 260 Bow Rider. Previous owners left behind a Foam Mattress cut into the shape of the V-Birth, but not very comfortable, and then we tried without the Foam Mattress, did not really notice it better or worse. We sleep on a Temperpedic at home, ....just looking for a little more comfort, as well as any place to purchase fitted sheets and bedspreads made for this setup? Other than a small amount of discomfort to be worked out there, we love the 320. Thanks..................Garmett

We got sheets from yacht outfitters, on of this sites sponsors. Look at CSR sponsors above. Pricey but great quality.

Congrats on your new boat, love ours but I'm also not happy with v-berth comfort.. We bought a queen size piece of 2" memory foam and cut it to the shape of the cushion and my wife made some sheets and comforter but still feels like I' sleeping on concrete:smt015

Thinking about adding another 2" of memory foam.
Checked into a custom mattress this past spring but it was around $1200.00 couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on that much

We buy our sheets at Bed Bath and Beyond and have them cut to fit by our local full service marina. Get the King Size so,there is lots to work with. Once they have a template, it is on autopilot. Mattress pads, same deal

Thank You for your reply's. Of those who have purchased mattresses for your V-Birth. Who did you use, and which thickness did you choose, and how satisfied are you with the finished product. Just trying to determine what has worked well with everyone. We have a foam pad cut out and layed over the OEM pad,.......Not good.

Bought 4" memory foam Kingsize from Overstock. Transformed the bed from too hard to just right

I had bought a foam 8" mattress from walmart. Then bought a electric turkey knife and for $200 its damn good.I was surprised as how soft it was.I would do it again. And im not a foam mattress type of person. Sheets just bought good ones from Bed Bath and Beyond. Good Luck

Mike,

May I ask what the cost of that was? Looking for a mattress for my 280.

Thanks,

Eddie

When buying a foam mattress be sure and get a Latex one as Latex does not absorb water. For the current boat and the last one I bought high end Latex mattresses from IKEA and cut them to fit with the ol' electric knife. Works great and we sleep babies....unless the dogs are with us. For some reason they feel the bed is theirs and who is going to argue with 2 85 lb. Ridgebacks?

We added 4" of memory foam to ours and it is very comfortable now. We got "performance" sheets / pillowcases from Sheex - the hex berth set fits very well. We sleep great on the boat.

We added a 4" memory foam also and it is like heaven to sleep on. Also I removed all three of the surrounding factory installed cushions around the v-birth bed. This freed up 6" of headroom and 6" on each side of the bed for room. It's like a king size bed now. The memory foam was cut to size after removing the cushions. I can't believe Sea Ray designed the 320 with those cushions using so much space around the v-birth.

That was one of my biggest complaints about the 320, and one of the main reasons why I sold ours and got the 340. How did you finish the area to make it look nice once the bolsters were removed? Any pics?

I too, use memory foam to make the bed more comfy. At first we had the foam above the existing mattress pads, which made it too soft for my wife (i liked it fine), so I put it under the mattress. I'll have to let you know how that is working next year, as my wife has not slept in the berth since I made the change. Personally, I found it okay, but I could really tell where the seam between the two halves was. Maybe I should also add a pillow top mattress pad.

Put the foam mattress back where you like it and buy a better bottle of wine for the admiral! Then report back with your results! Things will change!

I haven't finished the rails around the bed yet. That is the spring project. I took pics before and after the bolsters where removed to show the difference in room. When I complete the finishing I will post all the pics. It really opened that area up. We love the 4" memory foam right on top of the default mattress.

I did the 4" memory foam my first 5 years on my 340, it helped but I always had pains in the morning and getting in and out with the memory foam is a PITA. Last February I ordered a inner spring mattress from Comfort Custom Bedding, http://www.comfortcustombedding.com/ out of Ft Lauderdale, best thing I ever did and should have done it my first season in this boat.

I visited the shop when I was down in Feb for the Miami show, the owner showed me all around where and how they make them and the materials they use, explained the difference in the cheap components vs the good stuff. I have a 8" mattress, 6" individual coils, 2 inches of foam on top as a pillow top. $1400 delivered, worth every penny, it feels as comfortable as my home mattress which was a $2800 set. The 340 is the width of a king at it's widest point so it pushed the price up, for a 320 might be less expensive. I ordered it in mid February and had it by March 25th before I launched, they also make custom sheets. Very satisfied.
