I was thinking of buying a king size sealy 4" memory foam mattress topper from overstock.com and then cutting it for the aft cabin and the v berth? Do u think this is a good idea or would you guys suggest something else? Also where can I buy sheet sets to fit the v berth shape and aft cabin?

Sealy's are an inner-spring right? Try a memory foam or if possible, the amazing Sleep Number bed which I so enjoy at home.

I use the 4" memory foam in the aft cabin and it sleeps like a dream. Rather than mess with custom sheets I bought a sleeping bag from Camper's World that has sheets attached via velcro so they are easy to remove for washing. So it sleeps just like a down comforter with sheets and is a lot less trouble and expensive. In addition, it has two weights, summer and winter so you can change the weight just by flipping over the bag. It comes in a double size so it is perfect for the aft cabin. They also make one in a v-berth shape. It is also carried by WestMarine but as usual it is 10% more expensive there. I believe Sea Ray is now offering custom sheets for the v-berth but I am so happy with the setup I have, I will use the same system for the v-berth this summer. That way, you can easily remove the bedding and store it if you want to use the area for sitting.

I have never slept on Walmart memory foam (or others) but can't you just sleep on the foam itself or do you need a topper of some type?. It's probably still better then the regular cushions right? We plan on doing more overnighting on this boat than our last.

I bought my memory top at Bed and Bath and it came with a nice removeable cover that can be washed. I just throw my bedroll on top of it and it is as comfortable as my mattress at home.
