The trim around a couple of my side hatches in the cockpit (one storage, one battery switch) is painted metal and the paint is bubbling a peeling. Easy winter project to sand and repaint, but any idea if there's a way to match the paint color? Or should I just pick th closest off-white I can find at HD and call it good?

I had the same issue, plus I made a removable storage box/coffee table for the cockpit and needed to match the paint. I just got several white samples at Lowes and found one that matched pretty close. If you can get a chip of the paint, HD or Lowes can match it.

I took mine off and had them powder coated. Less then 100 bucks each and no trouble on my end.

Get a can of "pure white" and also a can of "off white" or "buff white".

Mixing tiny quantities of each together you can find a good ratio that will match. Start with a 1/4 oz of pure and mix in a couple drops of off white then try. Keep tinting down till you get a match keeping track of ratio.

My 1990 searay match was -- 2 parts pure white to 1 part off white.--- I used this to roll and tip repaired gouges on the side of the hull and got a perfect match.

The original equipment replacement ones can be purchased from www.boatoutfitters.com. Look up the OEM part for the hatch and type it in the search box.
