Master Dealer: No Aquapalooza?

I'm disappointed that we didn't have a local event to attend this year. What would motivate a master dealer to NOT host an Aquapalooza event? Moreover, as I review the list of events at www.aquapalooza.com, there are only 10 listed for the entire western region of the country. If boat sales are down, why wouldn't dealers want to participate in one of the biggest sales events of the year?

The usual reason dealers don't do the Aquapaloosa thing is because of a lack of interest by the customers. Maybe the dealers other events haven't been well attended.....?

I think Aquapalooza was a huge success in Lake of the Ozarks.

According to MO water patrol, permit application was for 1,000 boats and they admitted that way more than that showed up so they are going to review their permit procedures for such events in the future.

Local news reports have several estimates of total boats ranging from 1,500 to 2,500. My uneducated guess would be closer to the lower end of that range.

This is only my 3rd season of boating, and clearly for all the reasons discussed in this forum, traffic is down this year. However, this event really brought everyone out.

I didn't realize there were so few West Coast events. I don't have the magazine with me; were there extra events in there? I'm on the East Coast and was only checking out those near me.

I wonder if the lack of events have anything to do with registration. If people don't register, Sea Ray can't prepare. Just like for the LOZ event, yachtmaster, I'm sure the planners gave the MO water patrol their estimates based on registration numbers. If people just show up (or are no-shows), they can only guess the number of boats.
