Market for Classics?

Hello there. I am new to this site and actually joined to get some info from the Sea Ray experts. I have a 1979 SRV220 Cuddy Cabin that I redid about a week ago. New Carpet New upholstry in the cabin New parts fresh motor.... I could go on. I have had it up for sale for a little bit with a bit action but no takers. I contacted American Boat Listings to get it online in another spot. The rep called me back and said that the boat is collectible and put it on their site for 14500. I was very surprised at this and was wondering if he just wanted the listing fee or if this is true?

That sounds like a very nice boat. Pictures would help but that sounds awful high to me, especially right now. Was it restored to original looks or updated to more modern looks?

Most of the relatively nice classic Sea Rays less than 24' or so I see typically go for anywhere from a couple thousand to 5 or 6 thousand or so. Lots of really nice old Sea Rays selling for nice prices right now. You don't see many with a new motor though and that should make a sizeable difference in your favor I would think. Is it a crate motor, rebuilt or factor fresh? What motor is it and is it carburated or new fuel injected? Points or no points?

Good luck with the sale and welcome to the forum. May be it is a listing site that draws big spenders?

Thanks for the response. I thought the same thing. Here is a couple pics. They are kind of small. The motor is a rebuilt mercruiser with a carb. I took what I got from the previous owner and cleaned and stained and sealed and recarpeted and did a bit of mechanical work. So from what I've seen in pictures it is original. I really want to sell the boat so I can work on my Chris Craft fishing boat to possibly do charters off of. Now I got to cover the cost of that listing.:smt013
